One more- FF babies, how many poops a day do you get? Up until lately J went once a day. The past couple days he's gone 4/5 times. Is this normal?
DD went to exclusively formula around 4 months and seems to go back and forth. For awhile she was pooping 3-4 times a day and then she would only poop once a day for awhile and then go back to 3-4. She seems fine overall and never goes more than 24 hours without pooping so we just go with it.
DS is currently nursing 4 times a day. I have no idea how much he is getting. He isn't interested in bottles. He's 8 months and I don't know if that is enough. It seems like so little. He only had purees 2x a day and maybe 1-2 ounces.

cincodemayo, we had this problem with ds wanting to stand up but not being able to sit down. It involved a lot of going in, laying him down, and rubbing his back/tummy (kind of forcefully to prevent standing) until he was asleep. It lasted less than a week thankfully.

Should I let it be? Force a bottle?
How is his weight gain?
I'd be tempted to force a bottle to see if he'll take it and go from there.
His weight gain has been steady through 6 months but he hasn't had an appointment in 2 months and I am not sure how much he weighs now. DH tried to force a 2 ounce bottle of BM and he took 2 sips and spit it out. I don't want to throw it out. I am tempted to serve it in oatmeal tonight. Do you think that will be okay?
DS' neck rolls are getting red. Should we put something in them? Aquafor or powder?
Dont use powder that near his face. He could accidentally inhale it, which is not good for their little lungs. Could be quite dangerous depending on how much. Lotions are a better idea.
If you really can't bring yourself to do either of those, I bought thus little bowl to mash stuff off Amazon..
I'm in the make your own camp too. Laziness already has me well into the textured not smooth camp! A hand blender comes in very handy too. I've a mini masher and bowl too. Annabel Karmel is who does the one I have. Maybe it's the same as @littlemoxie? Little green and blue bowl. Banana or toast are good finger foods.

Really dumb question - will a 3 month old chew on her hand for reasons other than teething? I know DD is still young (but not impossible) for teething, but the past couple days she has gone from occasionally putting her hands in her mouth to constantly chewing on them. Plus it seems like she's drooling a ton more (but maybe that's just because the spit is constantly running out of her mouth b/c her hands are in there), and is really fussy today. So I guess my question is, is the hand chewing just a typical developmental stage, or should I be expecting a tooth soon?
That is mostly a rhetorical question, lol. But any suggestions would be great, even if the suggestion is "Just get over it and give her a chunk of banana, you wimp."
Taking a first aid class helped me a little. I would also start with soft-ish foods cut into strips.

DD went through a big hand chewing phase when she was about 3-6 months. I thought teething too, but yet, here we are at 10 months with no teeth yet.

I just checked on amazon.com and the bowl comes up as a NUK bowl/masher. It's blue with green handles and is $9

DS was a chewing drooly mess on and off from 4 months. First tooth last week so not really sure - chalk it up to babies be crazy!

I'm very glad to hear this. My nipples aren't ready for teeth yet!

DD is not as old, but she's been gnawing on her hands constantly for maybe 5-6 weeks now (?) and no signs of anything yet. Of course, it's not just her hands that go into her mouth at this point. If it's in her hands, within 5-10 seconds, it's in her mouth, lol
Can teeth cause a high fever? DD (15 months) was fine this morning, then all of a sudden about an hour ago got cranky and spiked a fever of 103.8. She has no other symptoms. I called the pedi and we are watching her til morning. Now for about the past 1/2 hour she has been drooling like crazy. Could this just be teeth?
I feel awful because we had a playdate this morning and I'm worried we exposed them (I already told them so they know) if she is sick and not teething. Plus, my parents and grandparents were going to come over tonight, now I don't know if I should cancel. I'm leaning toward cancelling.
babyrn Yes, teething can cause a fever in kids. With the drooling that could be it. Have you checked her gums? Are there any really red patches?
As for the play date, you didn't knowingly expose the other kid to something, if she has something. Let the other mum know if it does turn out to be something other than teething.
For your visitors this evening, I'd let them know now that you might cancel in a few hours. Give her something to bring the fever down and relieve the pain. If she isn't in better form in a couple of hours make the call. They'll understand - it wouldn't be a great visit for anyone if she's in such bad form.
irish She never really let us look in her mouth, so I don't know about red patches but I can maybe feel bumps back where her molars would be. I gave her motrin and she is starting to play again so hopefully it is helping. She's had a low temp with teething before, but never about 101, which is why I wasn't sure this time.

My daughter has always chewed on her hand as she gets tired. It's one of a few telltale signs that she needs a nap. Maybe that's what's going on with your daughter?
1) C is refusing eggs lately. What do you seve your toddler for breakfast? We're in a waffle/French toast/pancake rut.
2) What do you do with wet clothes after swimming lessons? DH's strategy of putting them wet in the diaper is not my fave.
Lately he has been eating a whole grain eggo with peanut butter. He also likes granola with blueberries and a splash of milk. Some mornings it's just a cheese stick and a banana, lol. As long as he gets something with a little protein I'm happy.

Ds1 drooled and chewed stuff starting around 2 months but didn't get his first tooth until 6 months. I would guess fussiness is a growth spurt.
