Central East regionals are this weekend. I'll be there tomorrow and Sunday. I am not nearly as excited as I have been in the past because we don't have a team going this year. My cousin will be competing with her team (they've been to the Games twice) so that's exciting, but it's just not the same, ya know?
Anyways, anybody else going to their regionals? Any athletes you're excited about seeing? Anyone predicting any upsets or surprise underdawgs taking the podium?
I am PUMPED Foucher is back and I get to watch her again. Of course, I'm always excited to watch Froning and Bailey.
I honestly don't know any of the athletes but I've been following the coverage via Twitter and loving all the updates! Post pictures from your POV when you are there!

What region are you in?
And yes! I will do. You'll probably see lots of the Maximus team because of my cousin. But they're so much fun to watch!
DAMMIT! I wish I knew you were going. My box is going, but I'm still so new there I didn't feel comfortable shacking up with them at the time. Oh well.

We're on our way home after day 2. Had an awesome day at the event. My cousin' steam (Maximus) is in third so we're hoping they'll hold on and get a spot at the Games again!
Froning was so steady today. He kept the exact same pace from the beginning til the end of every workout. Never sped up or slowed down. It's amazing to watch.
The Castro was there and as douchey as ever
A lot of women really struggled with the leg less rope climbs. It was painful to watch
We'll be there bright and early to cheer on the Maximus team.
I was at Canada East yesterday. Saw CLB and Michelle Letendre! We had a female individual from our box in the comp, last year she finished 10th, this year I think she was 26th, she had some rough WODs. Another female who had worked at our box as a trainer finished 16th. It was good.

I'm so jealous of you guys who got to go! I missed the LatAm regional because I was in CA instead of Santiago, and for the NorCal regional I'll be back in Santiago already
Can we talk about how absolutely bananas it is that Sam Briggs is out??? I also was surprised by Stacie Tovar, but that was a minor surprise compared to Sam not making the cut!

In the "what's new for 2014" article, HQ said they may do wild card spots. I would have to assume Briggs would be included if they choose to extend wild card offers. games.crossfit.com/article/whats-new-2014

I hadn't seen that about the wild cards. I don't know how I feel about that. On the one hand, I just like Sam Briggs and would be happy for her if she gets a chance to keep going. Plus I understand why CF HQ would want the big names to draw the crowds. But in sports sometimes the supposed better team/person isn't good enough on the day, and the underdog gets a chance, and that's just life. We'll have to wait and see, I guess!
I thought she was there because they invited all previous games winners before this year.
They invited all of them? Hmm. I could be wrong.
I thought until this year the rule was that if you previously won the games, you got an automatic bid. That's how Marcus hendren got there last year and some other guy from the central east. Froning and holmberg were in the top three so they sent the fourth and fifth place because the first two didn't "count"
