It all depends on where you want to go If where you're going is on the Orange line or you would normally take the orange line through back bay or north station for a transfer, it MIGHT be cheaper -- it's still $6/day to park at Forest Hills though (I live about 2 miles from there so we go that way fairly often). I've never parked there on a weekday, but the MBTA website says there's usually less than 1% available spaces so you'd probably need to get there early. On weekends you'd be fine though, I've never had a problem parking there on the weekends

I'm not sure how far south you are coming from, but, we live in Dartmouth and when we head to the city we usually drive to the Braintree Red Line stop. Of course, during commuting hours you'll encounter some traffic once you hit 24/93. My BFF used to commute from here to Children's Hospital and she had a voucher I believe. She would drive to the Lakeville/Middleboro Commuter station and go from there.

For a weekend trip, if you are going to drive into Forest Hills & pay $6, you might as well drive to the Boston Common Garage & pay $11. You can stay parked there all day & there is a lot to do within walking distance.

Yeah, I'd just drive right in on a weekend. The garage at Post Office Square is even cheaper, $9/ day. And as a bonus, it has a clean bathroom you can hit up on the way home.
