Today was h's last day of his job before he has a week off to pack and starts the new job. We are celebrating with pizza, friends and lots of drinks around the fire pit.
Dd has a make up soccer game tonight then we are going to the cemetery to "see" my dad since today is his birthday so dinner will either be fast food, leftovers, or pizza.

Brother two came over earlier with a roast he'd been brining overnight. It's braising now in a red wine sauce he made.
He roasted a ton of sweet peppers and has mushrooms and jasmine rice. Not sure what he's doing with it but I'm sure it's going to be good.
He works in a restaurant and lives with my parents (had a big career/life change and went to culinary school and is now working on moving back out) and my mom hates when he cooks because she likes plain food. I told him he was welcome to cook here anytime.
Boil rice in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain it Mix in some caramelized onion, some plain yogurt, some ground sumac, some cumin, some lemon juice.
Heat up a pot, add a couple of tbsp of oil. Put the rice in the pot (it should sizzle). Mash the rice down a bit. wrap the pot lid in a kitchen towel and cover the pot that way. After 5 min, turn the heat to low and let it steam for about 30 minutes.
Then you turn it upside down (if you want; I like to just stir it all up together) on a plate. The bottom of the rice is crispy and brown.
That sounds delicious.

Leftovers from this week. They can choose from chicken tacos, smoked sausage Alfredo or sweet chicken tenderloins. They can fend for themselves, I'm not cooking tonight.
Tomorrow I'll make either stromboli or lasagna soup.
If I don't stop and pick up takeout, I'll get fancy and make Kraft mac and cheese and dump some breadcrumbs on top. I'm tired and I don't really want to cook tonight.

Tonight's dinner was 5 star. We had two little lobsters with garlic butter, bacon wrapped scallops, long grain rice, and fiddleheads in a brown butter with lemon juice.
