Has anyone on here had this procedure done? I hate my Mirena IUD. It has been just about a year and I am still spotting more than I am not and it has to come out because it is just annoying.
I will more than likely have an ablation to help with my heavy periods. Was wondering if anyone has had one done and what your experience was like. I was hoping that the IUD would take away my periods as it does for the majority of the women who have it, but it did the opposite to me.
I cannot go back on the pill due to BP issues unless it is the mini pill and that will probably also give me spotting.

I had one done just a couple of months ago. Recovery was nonexistent except for discharge that lasted several weeks.
I've had one period since the procedure and it was 1.5 days of very light flow. Previously I would have several days of extremely heavy flow and then a few lighter days, making for a very long period. I'm thrilled with the results!
I had one 15 months ago and it was def. one of the best decisions I have ever made. Life changing, really. Every month I discover ways my old cycle held me back or affected my life, which it no longer does.
It's about 50/50 whether to not you'll lose your period completely. I still get mine, which I actually prefer, because it it a monthly reminded the tubal is working I was put under for the procedure, and aside from some wooziness that day and some odd cramping (felt like I had to poop) for about 12 hours, I was absolutely fine. I've had no weight gain at all, no ill effects, my cycle is exactly the same, no depression/mood swings/tenderness etc. None of that scary stuff you read when you Google. I 100000% recommend it.
ETA: My period used to be 7+ days of flow, with 2-3 being so heavy I could soak through an Ultra tampon and a pad in a couple hours. Now it's 3 days of light flow, most of which doesn't even make it onto a liner. I wear a lite or regular tampon on the first day which I change at 8 hours, even though it's only about 1/3. Only because I don;t want TSS.
I had a tubal ligation when my second daughter was born. I know a lot of Drs won;t do it unless there is permanent bc in place (tubal, vasectomy etc.). Getting pg. is possible and very dangerous after an ablation

I had an ablation about two years ago to deal with my insane periods, best thing ever. I still get a light period but so much better.
Whether or not you still get your period can depend on your age, at least from what my dr explained to me. Under 35, it could come back and the potential for a second ablation because it could get heavier over time again, older you get, less chance of issues reoccuring.
hope this makes sense, I keep getting interrupted.
