MH is going for a conference in Miami next week, and I am tagging along. He will be gone mostly during business hours, what would you recommend I do during the day? Any good shopping or sights to see?
I recently went to South Beach, we mostly layed at the beach at our hotel (The W, highly recommend it!). I did go to the bliss spa and got a sugar body scrub which was amazing, if you want to have a spa treatment I recommend bliss!
Restaurants we loved included prime 112, we ate there twice! As well as Joe's Stone Crab.

Miami has pretty much everything! Shopping on Lincoln Road is always fun. If you want super up scale, go see The Shops At Bal Harbour. also, Coconut Grove is okay for people watching, etc. Lucky Magazine has a decent city shopping guide.
I'd go to see Vizcaya.
Boat tour from Bayside Market is pretty cool. See celebrity homes, history, Port of Miami
If you have a half day, go to the Everglades and have an airboat tour. Pretty cool!
Too many great restaurants! The Art Design District has tons of off the beaten path restaurants.
I second Lincoln Road - lots of shopping and casual places to stop for lunch. Definitely try to have some good Cuban food while you're there. If you're staying near the beach, Lario's on Ocean Drive is good. There are many other authentic places elsewhere in Miami, but Lario's is easy to get to and they have nice seating with views of the ocean. I know there are some fun sounding tours (art deco tour, Star Island tour) that I always wanted to try.
