I was laid off from my job (along with 700 other people) in December 2012. It really messes with your head.

YES! Lol we lost a few total slackers and people that would just come up to your desk and make office space references. 

The reason they're laying people off is that they cut our budget by 40% for healthcare. So 40% staff reduction. That's a lot.

Second of all, hugs for going through that. It sucks. Having been there myself a couple of times, sometimes the ones that are lucky to have their job end up doing 2-3x as much work because of the people that got let go.

Yeah this isn't exactly a blessing. They're also getting rid of the product I like working on, so there's some considerations to be had about staying anyway.
