Layoffs

I've been out all day, just saw this. Glad to see you're safe. It's the worst feeling just waiting around to be called/or not.

We just went through a round of RIFs although we knew it was coming since we were acquired a year and a half ago. My position was eliminated at the end of the year but luckily a director in another dept. offered me a position on his team. I'm a little scared going into a whole new role in a new dept. but grateful to have a job and new opportunity.

Ok, I am the worst--I get so busy in the afternoons I can never get online. Then I go home and crash. Sorry I missed this yesterday, SO glad to hear that right now your job is safe (what horrible timing that would have been), and it sounds like this might have been the push you needed to help you look elsewhere for something better. Good luck!

Thank you all for your support! I got the official all-clear this morning. My team lost 2 people, and the one that is the same position as me had more experience than I by many many years.... so I'm not really sure why I was kept but I guess I do a good job!

Back to work! Well, ok a week of vacation first.

You were probably the cheaper employee.
It almost seems wrong to cut people who are loyal, but they also often get paid more.

I am glad that you were safe, but I am sorry for the stress and your co-workers.

Anyway, like you said, back to vacation!
