I love this! It's just an entirely different side of endurance sports, and it's so interesting to read. What a gorgeous trail. Awesome job & congrats!!
I am LOLing at this whole thing! I feel like I am at a place in my fitness where 12, 13, 14, 15 hours sounds relatively reasonable, yet 12 hours of straight running is throwing my mind into a tizzy!! Your positive attitude, your patience, your humor - I love it all.
I wish I was as fun as an ultra runner! You're all so damn fun!
So many congrats to you! I can't wait to hear about more stops on the infinite journey!
Congrats! blndsnbrdr what water pack did you use? I can't seem to find one that doesn't bother me when I run.
I used the Ultimate Direction [which I keep wanting to call One Direction] Jenny vest -- I actually won it in a FB giveaway so it's a prototype but works great for me. I made it 40+ miles in a tank top with the vest/pack and had no chaffing and you can pack a ton of stuff into it. It's women specific so it fits the chest better [even tho mine is miniature and a bad tester for it] but the chest pockets on the straps are higher up so they can only really hold a 10oz bottle. Technically they hold a 24oz bottle, but it'll hit you in the chin.
Overall, I like it but have heard mixed reviews. Also, it's the only vest I've ever worn so I can't really compare it. HTH

Girl, you can swim...and bike fast without crying. You've got me beat!
And we're only fun because we're too stupid to be anything else! I can say that...I'm one of them now! [not-so-#humblebrag]

I finally sat down and read your report! I honestly can't imagine running 50 miles, and especially with such a positive attitude the whole way! I'm so glad it was a great experience for you. Well done!
So cool! Let me know when you qualify for WS100! I'll crew you!
Done! Or pace me!
I don't have an undying urge to get into WS100, but my 100 this fall is a qualifier so I might just throw my name in the hat, we'll see. :S
LOL, I may not be the best choice for a pacer (slower than DIRT), although I'd be happy to give it a try. I can be encouraging and annoying at the same time, so I guess I have the most important part of it down. But seriously, I'm ABSOLUTELY down for crewing for you if you ever do a race out here. You're welcome to crash at casaj too, as long as you're not allergic to the creatures.
Either way, you ROCKED that 50 miler. Nicely done!

You are amazing! Wow! Thanks for sharing your recap. It's cool to learn about the ultra "culture" with their aid stations of Mt dew and junk food. You make running 12-13 hrs seem completely normal.
