I went to a 30 minute cycling class and 50 minute Bootcamp class last night. I only did 2 other workouts this week because of my work travel schedule. I felt like I HAD to get a strong workout in lady night.
I have a 5K on Saturday that I've really been looking forward to. I'm sore from my class yesterday and starting to get panicky about the race. Any tips? Just try to rest and ice as much as I can today?
Do you like coffee? Caffeine helps me with soreness, so I'd try that an hour or two before the race. A light walking or running warm up is good too. Good luck!
I'd allow time for a long slow warm up before the race. When my legs are feeling junky and sore, it's usually better (maybe not 100%, but at least better) after the first couple of miles of my run, so I'd want to run the race on legs that had been going for a while.
In addition to what everyone else said, I would maybe try a little yoga if you do yoga. Just enough to get your body warmed up a little bit and then finish with some good stretching poses.
Great suggestions everyone - THANK You! I'm rocking two pairs of compression and sipping coffee right now. I will def do a longer-than-normal warmup tomorrow and do yoga tonight. I've learned a HUGE lesson from this.
