I need to run more races pissed off apparently. I've been slacking off in training and letting work get in the way. I ended up PR'ing at a local 8K today, last year's time was 42:12, this year, 40:50ish AND I got to smoke past an annoying co-worker at the finish <insert devil horns here>
Good luck everyone! I ran a 10 mile race this morning. The weather was freaking perfect for once! I went out a little too hard so I was really feeling it toward the end, but overall it was really good. Now I'm sitting at home watching hell's kitchen in my pajamas. Great start to the weekend!
I just got done with my 5k. It didn't feel awesome or anything, but I got 3rd in my AG. I love small, local races that give me a chance! I was less than a second off of 2nd in the AG, so that's fun!

Good luck everyone! I have a 5K on Monday that I am woefully unprepared for because I haven't been able to run the last two weeks because of work/family stuff. My goal now is to finish upright, especially since it starts at 11 am and it's supposed to be close to 80.
al320 - I hope you have mega-success and hit your PR! Can't wait to hear how the marathon went.
Thanks! No PR, but that was unrealistic. I cane in just iver 3:59. All I wanted was to break 4. My head wasnt in it the first half, but around mile 14 some guy told me I was the 75th female and I decided I wanted to be under 70 and I kicked it up! I also went from 222 overall around mile 20 to 188 at the finish. I never hurt (well, the last half mile was hard), the course was great, weather was fine, I just couldnt get it together mentally. Sub-4, ill take it.

Oh and one of my toenails is a goner!!
Hope everyone else had good races!
Congrats! In my book, sub-4 is always something to be happy about!

RIP your toenail, but sounds like you ran a great race! Way to finish strong.

I ran a local 5K yesterday. The weather was near perfect, I was well hydrated, and felt great heading into the race. I did a 4 mile slow warmup with stretching and had a solid race strategy planned out with a goal to run 24:00 min.
Miles 1 and 2 were great and I followed my plan to a T - ran first mile in 8 minutes and second mile in 7:45. My plan then was to run mile 3 in 7:30, but I just couldn't do it. I was spent. I finished with a chip time of 24:50 and Garmin time of 25:07 (course was short and I ran through the finishers shoot to get up to the full 3.1 miles).
It was enough for 2nd place AG out if 12 in my AG. I still feel really good about the race despite missing my goal. Small, local 5K races are so fun!
