we went camping with the kids at manchester state park. they did surprisingly well, and it wasn't as cold as we expected. we went with a large group, and there were other toddlers and babies, so it helps that the toddlers could all hang out together with minimal parents, and the we could focus more on the boy.
there was a beach nearby, and bjl looooved looking for seashells. i didn't realize she'd know what to do, but she did! she was really focused, and it lasted a good twenty mins of eyes-down-searching.
I've never heard of Manchester state park. I'll have to look it up! Dh worked a half day from home on Friday, then we went to Portland. Friday was fireworks at city fair (j LOVED them), We went to the fair with my sisters and their kids another full day, picnicked in the rose garden, went to the ocean (hug point near canon beach; it's a cool spot) and had a mellow day yesterday.
We had a quiet weekend and managed to do a bunch of chores. Unfortunately DH had to work yesterday but we're close to caught up on laundry, I made meatballs to eat and to freeze, and we got a bunch of papers together to be recycled. We also went to a birthday party and played outside with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and G's sand/water table. DH finally installed the child locks on the cabinets we don't want G to get into. I'm glad we were productive since I just did the math and realized that we don't really have another completely free weekend until after July 4th, and then we'll be within 1 month of the new baby coming (!!).
We were pretty lazy, but I'm totally exhausted to be at work today. I realized we never saw the last season of Dexter b/c I'm dumb, so we watched it whenever E was asleep. Sat we went for a long drive and checked out some possible ideas for E's birthday. Sunday we took E to the park. Yesterday I went to my mom's for a BBQ and H stayed home and cleaned the bathroom. Other than that, we cooked, ate, and just chilled at home.
I mostly worked on report cards and napped buy we did do maternity pictures, go bowling with some of B's work friends, and I had lunch with one of my bffs yesterday. Oh and we installed the car seat and every time I look in my car I have a mini anxiety attack. I could use another nap today

How far/hard of a drive is it from Portland to Canon Beach area?
We left from Beaverton and it was about an hour and a half with one stop. Wasn't bad. Part of the road into canon breach is pretty windy, but the highways had reasonable speeds, lots of pull offs for slow traffic/overlooks and had these spring water fountains on each side of the road (I don't know the name, but worth looking up!).
