O.M.G.
Pollen, mosquitos, heat, and humidity are bad enough...but for the love of god how do I live in a place that has a SNAKE SEASON too. They just have to remind me they exist around this time each year.
There were SO MANYwater moccasins squashed on the road yesterday (it circles a lake). Thank god I didn't encounter any live ones chilln' on the blacktop.
There is nothing that sends shivers down my spine more than snakes. I want to die when I see people actually swimming in the lake. NOPE. NEVER.

NOPE.
Luckily, I live in an area where it isn't too terrible of a problem (that I have encountered anyway!) I am terrified of snakes. When I am in the yard doing yard work, I make my husband do a "snake check" before I go anywhere there might even be a remote possibility of snakes.
I did see a snake when we took our new bikes out for the first time about a month and a half ago. Haven't been on that path since...
I don't think I could ever live in the south because of this! I haaate snakes! My heart rate even speeds up when I see a dumb rubber snake at the store. Whhhyyy do little kids need to play with such things?

We have a wooded acre backing up to a marsh so I know we have some snakes. My dh HATES snakes so he's always asking me to check certain areas for him lol. I run on a trail through a marsh and came across a 5ft long black snake completely stretched across the trail. I wasn't paying attention and almost stepped on the thing. The worst part was that it was an out and back section of the trail so I just ran through there 5 mins before. Where the hell was it then?! They don't bother me too much but I definitely get startled when I come across them.
I have to drop this funny snake story in here. We are in PA so not a ton of snakes. Last summer DH comes in from the garage carrying the dustpan. He says, "Look at this huge worm I found in the garage! It is so big it has a face!"
I feel so lucky that I've lived here 3 years and haven't come across a rattlesnake.Thats unheard of and I feel like my number is up soon!
On my 20 mile run the other day I came across 2 snakes ( not counting the pet one the guy was walking with!) and unfortunately its snake season here now.

^o) huh? did I read that right? a guy was WALKING his pet snake?!
I hate snakes. Hate them. We ran across one last night on the trail and I did my normal snake dance.
We had them everywhere growing up. I have walked under one hanging off the porch, sat over one, killed one with my mom, had them sneak into my parents house. I always spaz out the same way so I call it my snake dance.

OMG you must have missed my post on Friday about it! Yes, you read that right!
I was running on the bike path here, and passed a guy out walking with a 6 foot snake hanging around his shoulders. You know, just out for a stroll with his snake because that's totally normal right?? I did like a triple take. I still can't believe I saw it.

You guys are getting me to cross a ton of states off my places to consider living list. I don't like snakes and H is terrified of them. Like even the harmless little gardener snakes. He was rattled at while on a run in Arizona and has never gotten over that.
Eww. Snakes. We had rattlesnakes where I grew up. Shudder. I remember my friend's grandpa telling us about how they used to put feed bags on their horse's legs to plough their fields. My mom's house is in one of their old fields and I remember mowing baby rattlesnakes with the law mower (by accident) when I was a teenager.
We have a lot of snakes in our yard in Indiana too. I watched one eat a fish one day in our pond. It was pretty wild

I was hoping you wouldn't say something like this.

If it makes you feel better, there are very few poisonous snakes in Indiana. They are mostly just really far south by the Kentucky border.

Any time anyone posts about bugs or snakes I think it should be a requirement to post location If I am particularly scared by what someone is posting, even if I am just lurking, I check to see their location, like a crazy stalker.
