Any time anyone posts about bugs or snakes I think it should be a requirement to post location If I am particularly scared by what someone is posting, even if I am just lurking, I check to see their location, like a crazy stalker.
My rattle snake stories are from NJ.
This is upsetting. My friend saw one in the Poconos too
I was hoping you wouldn't say something like this.

I agree. Until Brit posted I was comforted by the knowledge that most of the ladies posting lived in the South.
This reminds me I need to call Terminex bc there was a centipede in my BANANAS last night
This is worse than my water moccasin on the sidewalk pic!
If it makes you feel better it was not a strange, tropical centipede that had hitched a ride in the banana, rather it was a normal house centipede that was just hanging out, trying to scare me. Not that house centipedes are fun, but at least they are expected.

Ya know, you'd think that it might, but it does not! I don't even know the difference, I just know that I don't want it creeping up between my bananas. ::shudder:: All of the legs...the twiggy, wiggly, legs! I can't. Aren't they poisonous, or is that only certain types?

They are but supposedly their jowls cannot pierce human skin. I HATE them, they are my worst nightmare, and the thought of them sends me into a fetal position in the corner. They are so fast and aggressive and ahhhhh, wiggly and leggy.
Snakes don't bother me. The only poisonous ones we have around here are rattlers, and they give warning if you get too close.
You are officially the bravest, most bad ass girl on H&F!
LOL!
I had to make a conscious decision when I was in 1st grade if I was going to be scared of snakes or not. The boys would pick up bull snakes on the playground and chase the girls. I wasn't very fast, so I would always be caught and draped with a snake. If I wasn't afraid they wouldn't chase me. Ergo, I just stopped being scared of snakes.

The don't really bother me either. I have an irrational fear of roaches, but snakes? Meh. I'll handle pet snakes, and while I won't willingly handle, or chase after snakes I see in the wild, I don't have a fear of them "getting me". I'd rather them not be near me, but if they cross my path, no big deal.
I am completely debilitated by snakes - I just can't handle them. I'm scared to even walk in our shed because I'm afraid I might find a snake curled up on the seat of our lawnmower. I know that's completely irrational, but it is what it is. I would rather deal with a mouse or bug any day.
DH's mom had installed a pretty healthy fear into DH about snakes, which I didn't know about. When we first moved into our house I found a baby garter snake outside and picked it up to show him. He was downstairs on the toilet when I brought the snake in. He was not pleased with me. LOLOLOL!
Since then he's become pretty easy going with snakes.

I'm pretty amazed that this is our third year here and I've never (personally) come across a rattler. I'm a little nervous about them in the springtime (before the babies get their rattles developed and learn how to control their poison), but otherwise, they don't bother me at all. At least there's warning, mostly.
I did get startled by a 6 foot king snake in our garden two years ago. He was apparently just hanging out in the shade because it was hot out, but I lifted a largish plant leaf and BOOM, there he was. I must have startled him, because he started hissing. I *may* have shrieked and dropped the plant and backed up a few steps. I didn't know that California Kings got that big. Apparently they do, FYI.

OMG! LOL!! I cannot stop laughing at this. Your poor DH.
huh? did I read that right? a guy was WALKING his pet snake?!
OMG you must have missed my post on Friday about it! Yes, you read that right!
I was running on the bike path here, and passed a guy out walking with a 6 foot snake hanging around his shoulders. You know, just out for a stroll with his snake because that's totally normal right?? I did like a triple take. I still can't believe I saw it.
I totally missed that! That's crazy! I would be to tempted to get some kind of picture!

I told him he was in the right place if he was going to crap his pants.

There was no way to get one without him seeing me, and I'm too shy to be bold about it. If I ever see him again though, I'll try to sneak one....because I still can't believe I saw this. lol

I was right next to a rattler recently (5 ft away), and it made no noise!!! It didn't make any noise until my brother tried to catch it (to release farther from the house). That made me nervous! Even poking it once, still quiet! It was crazy loud after that though. But I wonder how often I'm right next to one and don't know it. (My family lives in nor cal.)

I was not happy. Luckily DH got him for me.
OMG - house centipedes are one of the creepiest creatures out there.

Aaaah, I do not like snakes either. My DH was just in NM last week, and about 30 seconds after his co-worker said "be careful, there are a lot of rattlesnakes out here," my DH managed to step on one. Thankfully he didn't get bitten, but apparently there was a whole lot of screaming on his part.
