Holy crap, I didn't know you were pregnant, congrats, EJ!! And where are you moving to?
Right now, we pay $1006/month for infant care in a center. When we move back there, we will pay $235/week for infant care in a center. The 3 places we considered were $216, $235, and $265 a week. We went with the mid-cost due to the best location for us.
Thanks! Still very early, but fingers crossed! We're moving to eastern Iowa.
My kids are PT. Griffin Is just under 1k for 3 days a week and the twins are $650 each per month for 2 days a week. Yes this is why I am thrilled all 3 start public school in sept!! I only have to pay for gibby since he did not qualify for the early help prek so he is not free.
$20 per day for one kid plus $10 for the second kid per day in the provider's home. It ends up being $150 per week if they both go 5 days. I realize this is ridiculously cheap and it's actually the reason why we don't plan on moving while our kids need daycare. LCOL
I use an inhome provider. I use her part time, so it's $40 a day. I know her weekly rate is a little less than that. I want to say $175 for the full week.
Centers in my area for full time for an infant (The last time I looked at a center) ran about $1600 - $1800 a month.
The cheapest I found was $1000/month for infant care. I really wish my mom was retired, she would be an awesome help, but the poor woman is still working 50+ hours a week. Now that we're moving, we'll be less than 30 minutes from my parents.
These polls always make me feel like an idiot. I looked at the state website and went to every accrediated center within an 8-10 minute drive of my house, and still I could not find rates like these. I feel like I should be getting more for being LCOL! At least I have my relatively cheap house...
I think this is highly regional. People are charging what the market will bear, which doesn't necessarily follow COL. My house (a 60's bungalow) was nearly $300K. Childcare hasn't risen to meet the COL here yet.
Right now I'm paying $200/week for a 20-month-old at an in-home daycare. She is licensed and has a staff, though, so it's more like an actual center! The price will go up to $365/week once we have two kids in her care (baby #2 is due in October!).
$300/week, HCOL, in-home. We provide all supplies, food, etc. I think the price was supposed to drop (like $20, not a whole lot) when he turned one, but I don't have a copy of the agreement, so I don't know that for sure. Reminds me to get that agreement from the provider.
MCOL, we paid $1500 a month for our nanny (she watched my best friend's infant as well for an additional $1500 a month). She just moved so we put DS in day care for two months until he starts school. Day care is $240 a week until he turns 2 and includes lunch. It's the best center in the area, there were cheaper options available.
School is what's going to kill me. Private school tuition is $11,000 not including lunches and uniforms. I paid less for law school!
We pay about $600/week pretax for our FT nanny plus our portion of her federal taxes for a 40 hour week. We pay time and a half for overtime. MCOL. We are definitely getting what we pay for, expensive though it is. We are really pleased with our nanny.
We are going to pay $1350 a month for infant care at a center sponsored through a Methodist organization, ratio of 4:1 with a max of 8 kids in the room.It is highly rated and naeyc accredited.
I looked at a bunch of places ranging from $800 to $1650 a month (all centers, no in home). This was the place we felt most comfortable and we felt so lucky to get a spot. We have been on the waiting list since I was 7 months pregnant!!!
I pay a 17yr old nanny $105/day plus give her $20-40/day for petty cash (pool, take kid's to movies, lunches out, etc) & she uses my SUV. I have 3 kid's but they are in lessons/camps/at playdates daily so she doesn't have them all much. I work 8:15-5:15 pm on the days I work. My kid's are spoiled
