My water broke at 130am on Saturday morning. Contractions really started around 1030pm and I managed at home until about 4am and then we headed to the hospital. Got to the hospital around 5 am and I was 5cm. Everything was progressing well more at this point and quickly got more intense. Around 1100am, instead of progressing my cervix had swollen from baby hitting it and I had actually regressed to about 3cm. We tried fentanyl and an epidural and even oxytocin and after about 2 hours nothing had changed and the the OB was brought in and a c-section was the best option. While waiting my left leg was beyond numb from just the epidural but just from lying on it so I rolled to my right side. After a few minutes lying on my right baby’s heart rate dropped and they were having trouble picking it up. Cue panic mode, I quickly got rolled back to my left and everything was fine but I was sobbing by that point and just so ready to have baby out and safe. C-section was super quick and they talked me through all of it as it happened, ‘head’ ‘one shoulder’ ‘the other shoulder’ and then they said ‘Dad tell ecinereb what it is.’ DH said, ‘we have an Owen’ and I knew that meant a little boy. Team green was all worth it in that moment even though I’d pictured it a little differently. I heard him cry and immediately began sobbing again, I was just so happy and relieved he was here and safe. DH brought him over and placed him near my face and I got to see my baby boy for the first time.
