Our cat has dropped two baby mice in the living room in the past three days.
How do I figure out where in the world he is getting them from?!
Husband keeps telling me to take them outside and kill them. I cannot kill baby animals! I'd cry for weeks. I'm a wimp. So I just take them to the edge of the yard and toss them away from our house. (We live in the country, I don't toss them into neighbors yards).

It is kind of gross. Mice don't typically bother me. Since the cat feels the need to drop them by the bed/almost on the bed for me to wake up to, I'd really prefer they not be in the house.

I had an iguana that was supposed to eat pinkie mice. So I attempted to give him one and he smacked it with his tail. One squeak and I had to rescue it. I ended up feeding it with an eye dropper and had it for like 3 years.
Yikes! I never know what to do with the animals that my cat comes home with - usually just mice now, but she used to bring home birds too and the occasional chipmunk. She always presents them to us and is very proud of herself. It's cute minus the dead/maimed animal part.
Wikipedia says average litter size is 10-12. Good luck with that. Got any mouse traps?

I once kept a family of mice in a 10 gallon tank with a screen lid. I put in news paper and fed them cat food. It was during the winter. Then Dad moved it outside; I forgot about them for 3 months. When I went to empty it out, they had chewed up the newspaper and stuffed themselves plus the newspaper into an empty paper towel roll. They were still alive. So I carried them off into a field and let them go.
I was also like, 10.
ETA: They were mice that my brother would catch in his bedroom.

I wish they were chipmunks instead, they're cuter.
Our cat doesn't kill them. He licks them. Usually one side of the mouse is covered in cat saliva.
We don't have mouse traps; I really should buy some. But then they have to die. =(

Chipmunks are cute, but so evil. They dig up the landscaping and eat through things.
Do they make live mouse traps?
FWIW I'd take dealing with dead mice in traps over mice in the house...they carry diseases and leave mouse crap everywhere.
They do make live mouse traps. Though, so far I've just been picking them up with socks/paper towels and carrying them off.
I just need to figure out where in the heck they are coming from. They appear to be too small to really run around on their own, yet they have their fur and aren't newborn pink.
Does you cat like to be followed around? My older one likes to stare and then lead me to what she wants. Maybe if there is a nest inside it will lead you to it. Or kitty could just lead you to the food dish, that is also a strong possibility.
ETA: I realize how ridiculous it sounds to try and get your cat to lead you to the mouse nest, I'm turning into a cat lady lately.

Our cats Mother lead my Mother to them. They didn't inherit that ability. I could follow him and he'll lead me to where ever he feels I can pet him the best.
Or if he is stalking something and I show up, he quickly turns around and saunters off like he wasn't doing anything.
I feel he is living up to his name; his name is Ninja.
