I eat dairy, but not at breakfast. I normally do oatmeal (instant or overnight) with a scoop of almond butter and fruit. I don't use milk to make my oatmeal, just water -- every now and then I will use almond milk. Black coffee and water to drink.
I make a huge batch of these vegan banana oatmeal pancakes that I add some protein powder to for extra bulk. Two of those with 1TB of peanut or almond butter on one of them. Yummmm. I freeze them and just put two in the toaster oven each day.

Eggs do not come from cows' milk
I eat oatmeal (made with water) or eggs and toast (you could skip the butter on the toast) for breakfast most days. If you need portable stuff, you can make little mini-omelettes in a muffin tin, and as a back-up there are some pre-made energy-type bars that are relatively decent in terms of ingredients these days.
-Oatmeal -Hard boiled eggs -Egg "muffins" with chopped veggies and some meats -Banana + nut butter -Dinner for breakfast aka ground meat hashes with sweet potatoes and veggies

EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EGGS EEEEEEGGGGGGGS!
Most days, I just do 2 slices of bacon and 2 fried eggs. Sometimes we switch up the meat. Right now, we have ham steak from Costco (spoiler alert: bacon is better).
Today was special, and we got breakfast burritos.
I often make a cheese omelet. (Dairy, I know, but you could put veggies [blech, I hate veggies in eggs] in it.)
THE INCREDIBLE, EDIBLE EGG!
Also, none of this namby pampby egg white bullshit. The yolk is where the fat (aka the satiety) is!

LOL! I had no idea that eggs were commonly being mistaken for dairy. I mean...how does that happen? Eggs?
Anyway, OP, I go back & forth between an open face egg sandwich (which I add a slice of cheese to, so no to that), but I also do a slice of toast w/PB & sliced banana. If I have avocado, I also do a slice of toast w/a mashed up avocado half & a sprinkle of salt.
I eat the same breakfast every day, which I prep in the evenings. I eat 3 scrambled eggs with 4oz of either ground turkey or beef. I do the fat+protein breakfast because it sets me up for good blood sugar control throughout the day and it keeps me full until lunch.

lasagnasshole's love for eggs and a hearty cooked breakfast makes me smile. Except that now I'm wishing I'd gone for eggs instead of oatmeal for breakfast today.

Yes! I went w/the banana & PB option today, and now I'm craving eggs.

So I'm a fattie, right? And I was at a new doctor last week, and we're having the weight conversation (did I mention this doctor is really hot?).
He was talking to me about reducing/eliminating simple carbs and said that, for example, oatmeal was one of the best things I could have for breakfast.
I cut him off right there and said: "No. Eggs. Because 1) oatmeal is vile, and 2) I could eat 6 bowls of it and be hungry in an hour. Eggs all the way. Every day."
I eat an egg w/some type of toast - could be english muffin, could be sourdough, could be whole wheat. Depends on what we have on-hand. Egg is scrambled or fried. Sometimes w/avocado, sometimes not. Plus coffee
You're not the first one to make this mistake and you won't be the last!
Stop. I refuse to believe this is a thing. Who? Who is doing this? Are people getting no-dairy & vegan messed up?
I think under the original 4 food group model eggs were in the dairy category. in fact I think in the older pyramids they were in the dairy category too. this is not an uncommon assumption.
let's not let this snowball h&f, mmmkay?
anyway, are you sick of eggs, or just trying to avoid them? I started making deviled eggs instead of HB for breakfast. to switch it up. my typical breakfast lately is deviled eggs, string cheese/almonds, and a V-8. 300-400 cals and I'll be good to go until 1pm probably.

It was a genuine question. I have honestly never heard this misconception before. I really thought that perhaps she was just confusing non-dairy & vegan (& if she actually meant vegan, that would greatly impact our suggested foods). It's also a pretty helpful thing to point out to OP, since it seems that she likes eggs & wants to eat them, she just thought that she couldn't, because she wanted to cut back on dairy.
I know vegan means no animal products but i am fine with meat. My friend has a dairy allergy and also does not eat eggs. I just always lumped eggs into the diary family for no specific reason.
So i am the idiot for the day.
i be typing from me phone. typos and grammer dont count.
Okay, so I can remember way back in like first grade that eggs were lumped into the "dairy" food group. Remember the 4 daily food groups? Before the food pyramid and myplate? Dear christ I'm old.
Anyways, my normal breakfast consists of a protein shake made with almond milk, protein powder, some form of nut butter, and some kind of fruit (usually banana). I also really like some of the protein muffin recipes from paleOMG.
Yep, eggs were lumped in with dairy when I was in school. I think by the time it changed it wasn't part of the curriculum anymore, so we never really got told the updated information. We were left to figure it out on our own. Oh the horrors!
I usually rotate between eggs cooked any number of different ways and oatmeal.

Nah, seriously, it happens ALL the TIME. The other girls were right, it was the stupid food pyramid that lumped eggs in with dairy, so those of us that grew up in that generation had to be set right.

Not at all. It's (obviously) a common mistake. I genuinely thought there was just a mistake (typo) in your first question, so I was surprised when other people pointed out that it was a common thing. Also, fwiw, eggs are just eggs to me. LOL Like, I don't place them anywhere. Up thread, people were all "eggs are meat!" and I was just thinking "Oh. Really?" Some vegetarians eat eggs, some don't. If I had to place them somewhere, I'm not sure what I would have called them. I have no idea where they go!
