I've been doing the low fodmap thing for a bit and I followed the food list from Stanford Hospital (given to me by my specialist) pretty strictly for awhile before noticing that my symptoms were reoccurring. They weren't reoccurring as bad but the bloat and discomfort is still there. I recently started doing a bit of research and I've found conflicting things that I think might be sabotaging me. Based on the Stanford list I would say that almonds are okay... I've been eating them everyday lately and use almond milk in shakes so I didn't think those could be contributing to my issues, and since they are "ok" why would they?
Fast forward to today and I am looking at yet another list and this one is all "ALL NUTS ARE BAD."
Okay then.
So, for those who are following this diet, what do you do? Combine all of the foods to avoid that you can possibly find on any list and avoid them? Trial and error? Yes I could probably revisit this with my specialist but he sucks and other than this bloating and pain they haven't found anything out of the ordinary. Oh and I just read that Stanford okays berries but this other list says blackberries are a high polyol. My brain is turning to mush...

I am not really following, but I know some things that are supposed to be ok bother me, so I would say don't eat what makes you feel bad. Try eliminating the almonds to see if you feel better not eating them.

Yeah. It's not just the almonds on these other lists. It's really hard to tell what's making me feel bad. I guess I just need to pay more attention to it.

I thought FODMAP would help me, but not so much. I have been trying to make smaller changes to my diet. I was down to just steamed chicken and white rice at one point.

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
At times, I feel like this is where I am headed! Hopefully something will "click" soon.
THe FODMAP diet is relatively new and there are a million variations of "okay/not okay" foods. On one list I have, all nuts are fine. Another says you should limit to under 20 at a time. Another says cashews, almonds, and pistacios are off-limits entirely, but the rest are fine. It's frustrating, especially when you're desperate for relief. I'd cut down on the almonds for sure. Try rice or oat milk for your smoothies.
You can always do a food trial and remove all nuts to see if that helps.
