Hi, I just posted this in another board but was recommended to try this board. I am in the search for infant care for my 8 week old son. We have gotten on a couple of waitlist for daycares, Bright Horizon and Fauntleroy Children's Center. I was hoping for some more recommendations for in home childcare or a nannyshare. Any resources or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Have you checked care.com for a nanny/nanny share? I'm not in west seattle, so can't help with center options. I know wait lists can be really long though, we were on one for 8 months before a spot opened for one day a week.

I don't have any recommendations (we live in Tukwila and are doing childcare in Wedgwood since I work up there), but welcome and congrats on your new baby boy
I do! And the two centers westseattlemom mentioned are my best recommendations. We were at WSBH for a few months while waiting for a spot at the center at H's office and really loved it (we switched mainly because H's employer "sponsors" the center in their building, so employees enjoy a significant tuition discount; we went from ~$2k for WSBH to ~$1550 for the other center).
I have a few good friends whose kids go to Fauntleroy CC and they love it. We considered it, but BH won out for us because the discount made tuition approximately equal, and FCC doesn't provide lunch. Plus, they use "containment devices," which wasn't a deal breaker for me, but is a slight negative IMO. I do know they use them judiciously and sparingly.
So, I don't have any firsthand recommendations for options. Have you posted on the West Seattle Blog forums? There was a thread just last week asking for recommendations (was it started by you?) and someone mentioned an option called Alki Beach Academy that looks promising. The name is misleading--it's actually tucked down in a north Delridge office park.
Anyway, welcome! I'm a Seattle-area native and have been in West Seattle specifically for over eight years now. Love it. We bought a house three years ago in the Fairmount Park neighborhood between Fauntleroy and 35th.
