Maybe some of you remember my stress over possible job changes/cross country moves? H just signed the contract he was hoping for this morning, & we can finally really settle here I'm so proud of him. Nothing on fb please. It won't be announced for a few more days.
Took dd to camp this am, which is at our gym. Realized my tire was flat. Called AAA, and got my run in while I waited. Could have been shitty. Not shitty at all.
I am trying to do my online training stuff. One of them took 20 minutes on the phone for me to even be able to access, and I don't know the answers to several of their questions or who to talk to to find out. One of them has to be done by the day before I get back from Mexico (leaving Sunday) and it just straight up won't work - on 3 different browsers. I'm so annoyed right now.
I'm trying to decide what horribly high caloric dessert to make and what highly alcoholic beverage to purchase for my neighborhood's block party tomorrow.
As we previously discussed, today is national donut day. I want a donut. I walked up to our front office with a few co-workers (thinking surely, since there are frequently donuts on Friday, that there would be some for donut day!) and the receptionist told us that she was told not to bring any in, because people are trying to watch their figures for our annual conference.
A few things:
1. The conference is two weeks away. Not my fault that you people just now decided to start watching what you eat. Who in the hell is going to notice a difference in you (ya know, because it's work, so we'll be clothed) in two weeks? 2) Who gets in shape for a WORK conference?! 3) If you're watching what you eat, DON'T EAT THE DONUT.
If you have zero self control, it's not going to end well. Some of us, who eat healthy & exercise 99% of the time, and frequently pass on every other donut day, wanted to celebrate the day damn it. LOL
It may be odd that this is annoying me, but it's a pet peeve. So many people here want to just eliminate temptations (it's be a discussion of the wellness committee), but my argument has been that we should offer healthy options, and empower people to make healthful decisions. I'm not going to shame someone by saying "No sweets for you!", I'd rather say, "Yes, here are sweets (our vendors bring these, trying to be nice), but we also have fresh fruit, etc available. Choose what you will." /endrant
My bronchitis is finally on it's way out. I'm hoping with the help of an inhaler I can sneak in a slow/easy short run!! It's been almost two weeks guys.. I'm getting antsy!
I'm decided weather or not to go to dunks for a free donut and iced coffee but I'd have to change since I look like crap. Also a nail in a board scraped my leg while I was moving it to the dumpster and now I don't feel like doing anything more work in the yard, but we are almost there. DH has to level the sand and then we can start putting patio bricks down!!!!!!!!
Random: we're trying to make some pretty big decisions and I'm usually one to quickly decide. Now i'm nervous about the finality of it and can't commit one way or another. Usually my H is the one who takes forever to decide.
I settled for a dark chocolate square. It's organic, sweet, and educational! LOL To the left of the square, you see the rare Leaf Hawk Moth. I'm not sure how it's endangered with the spectacular camouflage.

kams - congrats to DH! Glad everything was able to work out for you.
I forgot it was National Donut Day, so when I went to Dunkin Donuts this morning for the vat of coffee (an XL, normally just settle for my little travel mug that DH so nicely makes me every morning (heart)) I hoped would help me make it through the day, I was pleasantly surprised when the girl asked me which one I wanted. I told myself I was going to save it for DS, but instead just ate is as my reward for making it through my Friday student groups.
My H and I need to run errands later. I told him we could hit up the DD by my house and where we are erranding to get 2 free donuts.
My random is that my calves are SO miserably tight I can barely walk. I don't know what the heck to do to get them to loosen up - I've stretched, foam rolled, had H rub them as much as I could tolerate. I skipped working out today because I don't want to make them worse. I can't figure out what the hell I did, and I'm ready for this to stop.
I hurt my thumb pretty badly (another surfing injury - I may need to stop this activity) this morning. I'm still denying it away, but I might have to go get it X-rayed tomorrow. Annoying. I'm scared that it is broken because I don't want a cast that will get nasty from running and I don't want a cast in Dubai in the summer. Maybe broken thumbs don't get casted anymore? H had a cast for a broken thumb, but that was like 15 years ago.
I love love love my new Saucony Guides! My foot hasn't hurt at all in the few shortish runs (up to 4.5) I've done in them, and I love the flat laces.
I woke up at 5:45 today...and was supposed to be at running group at 6:00, a mile away, and I always run there rather than driving. I threw my clothes on quickly and made it, and feel so much better for not having just snoozed the alarm. A bonus to having to drop my kiddo off at school is that I had no time to stop for a donut on National Donut Day.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

I had a cast up to my elbow for a broken thumb (also during the summer), but that was 10 yrs ago. I'm pretty sure they still cast them, though. I heard a snap, but since I could move it, DH and I thought maybe it was just jammed....and we proceeded to yank on it in opposite directions. Three days later, when my entire palm was purple & green, I finally went in for an x-ray. Don't wait that long!

And this afternoon I have a massage. Ahhhhh.
Until this exact moment when I saw your IG post I thought you were talking about your bike this whole time. H&F has eaten my brain apparently.

I have a really random. I just noticed a 6 pack of Oreos on my nightstand. I am sure they weren't there Saturday when I last cleaned our room. H has been out of town since before I woke up on Saturday. I have no clue how they could have gotten there. I guess it could have been one of the kids, but where did they get them and why my nightstand? Do I have an Oreo fairy?
My coworker went to Tim Horton's at lunch and brought back a half dozen for me, her, and our other CW to share. We cut them all into 1/4s to make sharing easier. I don't even know how many 1/4s I ate, but it was a lot.
Then I ran over to Wendy's just now for some fries and hot sauce. Why? Why not?
Tomorrow morning is the summer/fall session kickoff for running group. I'm making my triumphant return after a year off (darn babies) and I.can't.wait. It's like Christmas, only not.

I would like an oreo fairy.
I just went to go grab our packets for a 5K tomorrow so we could sleep in that extra 10 minutes in the morning. Except the group that puts on all the races around here hadn't delivered the packets yet, so we still have to pick them up in the morning. And they didn't have a full registration list, so they had my name but not DH's. AND they had already run out of medium size shirts seven minutes after they started packet pickup (I was the 4th person in line). This does not bode well for tomorrow's 5K. Especially since the last 5K I did put on by this company, it was a quarter mile short. Most importantly, all of this makes me feel that the advertised post-race margaritas will be the non-alcoholic variety. What's the point of even running the race??

It took me a second to realize we were not talking about a bike flat too. Especially since someone posted recently that in New England (or somewhere?) AAA was making bike calls to certain locations.
