We are not looking for much to do other than relax by the beach and maybe ferry to St Johns for a day. Never been but have free flight voucher and want to go somewhere new.
Do go to St John for the day. Better yet, stay there vs St Thomas, such a more laid back island. If you would like any St John info please let me know. We looked to buy a 2nd home there for awhile before we decided to buy on the next island over in the BVI.

Do you rent out your home?
Yes, vigurl, We will be. It is on Jost Van Dyke in the Sandy Ground Estates. We hope to start renting it out again in January 2015.
I was actually going to suggest a day trip to Jost Van Dyke. We are heading to St. Thomas in November and we're using Calypso Travel for our trip. It was reasonably priced and included stops on St. John and Jost Van Dyke.
We decided to spend most of our time on Virgin Gorda because we liked the smaller island feel vs. the big resort feel that we thought St. Thomas would have.
I would also suggest going somewhere other than St. Thomas :-) The ferries are remarkably easy to get around on, even with luggage. We've been to St. John (which was incredible and I suggest renting a villa vs. staying in a hotel), and are also heading to Tortola and Virgin Gorda this fall (mixing hotels and villas for our stay). After both trips, we will have spent 2 nights in St. Thomas, and that's enough for us.
Not that there's anything wrong with St. Thomas - it's just big, noisy, and too much like the US. They have a Home Depot there, lol. I like my island vacations to feel like true getaways, KWIM?
We stayed at Gallows Point on St. John. It was great! It is a resort made up of condos that are individually owned and rented out. Very clean, quiet, and nice.
