Good evening! It was a holiday here, so we had a lazy day and mine was extra lazy because DH cooked dinner AND cleaned up! But I had tap class just the same, so it was a routine-ish Monday for me. Timestep review tonight. I'll be time stepping around my house for the next week!
QOTD: I do not work, so I'm not paid in any currency. I do have a local bank account, And I maintain a bank account in the US.
Weekend here was good, very relaxing :-) And today is relatively quiet. Busy day at work, heading home soon to relax with DH!
QOTD: I'm probably the oddball out! Since we work for a US university, we're paid in US dollars. We don't have a local Qatar account, and we've kept our US bank account open and only have US credit cards. We've managed so far for 5 years, hoping we can continue ;-)
I haven't moved yet. 21 days and counting until I do! DH is overseas getting job training so I'm here trying to shop and get what we will pack in order. We are so busy it's not even funny. Every day this month I have multiple events or appointments.
QOTD: its not set up but at least I know the answer! DH will be paid in $US so we will have our US bank account. Everyone at his company's overseas branch also has a local account so we will too and transfer money as necessary. I was told you can get a better exchange rate that way than with CCs, but using US CCs is so much easier since we have auto payments set up. I guess we will just get used to it at some point.
I had a fantastic weekend with friends in Delaware. I really loved it and I'd happily go back. The weather was lovely and it was a proper seaside holiday which I really needed.
QOTD: This one doesn't really apply to me. I have done banking in multiple countries though.
We've been thinking about buying a place here and I found a great little terrace house we were interested in. We assumed 10% down would be enough but talked to bank and because DH is a foreign national we have to put at least 25% down.
Really feeling down about it. We could still swing it but would have to take equity out of our place at home or some funds that are in the market. Not keen on either scenario so I think we're staying renters.
QOTD: Paid in local currency and have a local bank account. We still have accounts at home because we own a home there and have a mortgage and renters. Some of my income I take in USD or CDN and deposit into our account at home.
Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend :-) Did you do anything fun?
What's happening in your part of the world today?
QOTD: Are you paid in your host country's local currency? Do you have a local bank account? Do you still keep a bank account in your home country?
Had a fun weekend. Did a pub crawl in Greenwich and hung out with a group of guys on a bachelorette party who were all dressed in costume (Regency wigs and all).
Today had work at the university.
QOTD: paid in pounds as I work for British people and for a British school...but always have been paid in pounds. I do have both a local and a US bank account (student loans).
Nice weekend here. We didn't do much, but it was good to just chill out.
QOTD: I get paid in USD. I have a local bank account, but only because I have to pay daycare in AED and they only take checks. I basically just transfer tuition in, pay them an arm and a leg, then have my local bank account down to nearly nothing.
