Hi TIP! Thanks for all the encouragement last week. I wanted to finally post some pics of my little baby, who is just remarkably amazing in every way. I have absolutely zero experience with newborns (I saw a 1 week old baby once for 5 minutes, but she was asleep and I was afraid to touch her because she was tiny), and I thought I wasn't a big fan of babies in general, but I'm a HUGE fan of MY baby! (also, it really helps that she is adorable.)
I'm feeling pretty good! Mentally I'm so glad that pregnancy is over and I'm ready to get back to normal, but physically I definitely still have some healing to do. It's hard to slow down and focus on my recovery, because I just want to take Smocklette on walks and get outside and do stuff.
I'm functioning relatively well on very little sleep, and things are looking up on that front--because Smocklette is such a good little eater, the pediatrician said we can introduce a bottle any time! So I'm totally ready to pass off some of the feeding to Mr. Smock while I sleep for longer than 2-2.5 hours at a stretch. Breastfeeding is going really well, much better than I expected, and Smocklette is aaaaalmost up to her birth weight (one ounce shy).
I've been spending a lot of time on GBCN in the middle of the night, wishing there was more 3am drama since that's when I've been awake.
She has a surprising amount of hair! Everyone at the hospital kept commenting that blonde babies are usually sparse or bald, and yet she has this nice downy layer.
