ECKFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Sometimes hot weather can make people do crazy things to beat the heat. Such an incident occurred around 7 p.m. Tuesday in Calhoun County.
Two fishermen called 911 after witnessing a man crash his pickup truck into Maynard Lake in Eckford Township.
Deputies arrived and saw the 1988 Chevy Silverado stuck in the lake with water up to the door handles.
"During the investigation, deputies were told by the driver that he drove into the lake because his dogs were hot and he was going to cool them off, and that his truck needed a wash," according to a news release.
The driver, identified as a 49-year-old man from Marshall Township, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
