DD is 6 mo, 4 mo adjusted. She eats every 2 hours in the daytime or sooner. Her limit is 4 ounces but she won't take it all at once sometimes, taking an untimed break before finishing. Solids will hopefully start next week and I am crossing my fingers that solids will help her feel full.
How am I supposed to drive anywhere with her needing to eat all the time? She will take 3 ounces and be so happy, and then within 5 minutes of us being on the road she will scream because she needs that 1 ounce she left behind.
Even if she is full of 4 ounces, she'll still scream in the car seat with no warning. This happens even if I sit back there with her trying to entertain with toys, paci, singing, whatever, while my husband drives.
Does she just not like the car? It may not have to do with food fwiw.
Maybe, but this seems to be a new thing. She seems to be more aware of her world these days. Prior to this we thought she just hated the stop and go of local traffic but was ok with highway driving until Sunday when she was wailing on the highway too.
Ds went through phases of hating the car, we could never make heads or tails of it. Unfortunately, he still has days when he screams back there despite my best efforts to distract and make him happy. Sorry im not much help!
DD went through a phase like this too. I would pull over to nurse her, thinking she was hungry and the second she was back in the seat she would scream bloody murder again. I tied A&A swaddles to the headrest and opened the window so they "danced". Worked like magic and then all of a sudden she was over her car seat hate a few weeks later.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to try the loud music with a beat and the dancing swaddles. She is still in her car seat. I will find out how much she weighs tomorrow but she can't be more than 15 lbs. I don't know if that is big enough to go into a convertible.
She won't take a paci and she's not into the soft book I have for her. I can barely distract her with the toy bar that has the spinning light up toys that goes across the infant seat handle. That thing buys me like 5 minutes, tops, but I have to be back there with her. Obviously this won't work if I'm driving.
One day out of desperation, I picked up two empty gallon jugs that were laying back there for recycling and started banging them together. Again, bought me 5 minutes which on that day was long enough for us to get home.
sent, convertibles start at 5 pounds, so she can fit in one. I would go to BBB or BRU and try out some seats. I've read that some kids like the radian because the low sides allow them to see more and feel less cocooned.
