I'm organizing something at work in which we need to have t-shirts made. I contacted a couple vendors. One of them cannot compose an email in coherent English, apparently. Literally, this was his last email to me:
Am I still on your list? Hopefully the god one. I just wanted to check to see if you got all the options I sent yesterday.
Let me kn ow if I ca get you samples or anything else.
I kind of want to let him know that I'm not going with him because of his inability to write a coherent sentence. This is probably a bad idea though, huh?
Is he good at the service you need? Then let it go.
I am a spelling snob too, but having worked with people all over the world, who don't speak English as their first language, my perspective has changed tremendously.
He's the friggen sales guy. He doesn't make the shirts. He's supposed to COMMUNICATE well enough to sell shirts.
That sounds different. If his whole job is sales I would forward it to his boss. Someone is paying him for that work.
See, that's where I'm leaning. I'd want to know if my communication was causing me to lose clients. But I dunno. I get that he's probably on his phone. That doesn't excuse not proof reading. A mistake/autocorrect here or there? NBD. Every email containing spelling and grammar errors because you're too lazy? Problem.
He just seems lazy and unorganized. He asked me several times whether he had replied to me. For someone who doesn't already have an established working relationship with me, I was surprised, to say the least.
And I wasn't going to contact his boss. I was going to send him an email letting him know that I am going with a different vendor, I'm just wondering if I should let him know why.
