When DS falls asleep after 5pm and I can't let him take a real nap. I know he could probably sleep a good hour right now but if that happens he won't go to bed till really late and then I will be cranky ha ha. Poor guy is just passed out in my lap!
I wish he would learn to take an afternoon nap at daycare.
What is his normal bedtime? I can let DS nap late and it does not seem to affect him going to sleep at bedtime at all. Seems weird to me, but babies are weird. Lol.

We start putting him down around 630. I think DS does not listen to the whole sleep begets sleep thing. I have let him nap after 5 before and it resulted in bed time disasters so much that the other day when we went out to dinner i made DH sit in the back of the car to pester DS to make sure he stayed awake ha ha.
ETA: I think it is because this kid can sleep for like 5 minutes and be completely happy/energetic afterwards. He is a strange one.
My kids have never followed the "sleep begets sleep" rule either. A late nap always pushed back bedtime; I would have woken them if they fell asleep at 5.
Oh I totally get that. We have a no nap past 3pm rule, because DS likes to go down around 5:45 pm. Because he is early to bed early to rise, & sttn most of the time, I wil even wake him up from a nap around 3:15 if he is still asleep.
I always struggle with sleep in the evenings. If DS doesn't get a good afternoon nap, he's obviously fussy, but I don't want him to nap at 4:30 when we get home since normal bedtime is 6:30/7.

I find that is Layla has a nap and wakes before 2pm, she needs her 5 pm nap. She still goes down at 730pm. But I know how you feel about trying to keep them up. I have bumoed the stroller all over the sidewalk to keep her awake until we get home so she can sleep in her crib
