Yeah, tangles are just a part of life the longer your hair gets. I try not to manipulate it much after I do a twist out. If it gets "big", II let it stay in the pattern of the twists. That way, when I twist it at night, I don't have much to comb through. My advice is to take an hour watching a tv show and twist it.
When you say tangeled ends, what exactly do you mean? If I bunch my wet hair into a bun and it dries, it's going to kind of clump together and tangle in sections. Also, this happens in my wash and go puffs. Although, You can only tell if you try to seperate the curls once dry so I never do that.
I use cantu Shea moisture products and ORS lock and twist gel for braid/twist outs (recommended by @nitax years ago). That combination keeps me tangle free after it dries.
Point of clarification, LOL
My hair was dry, I had just taken it out of french braids. I combed it this morning with a wide tooth comb. Finger combing it wasn't cutting it. So, it was tangle free everywhere except the ends. My hair is also chest length. I'm wondering if tangles are just a downside of having it long.
My hair tangles as it shrinks, so unless there is something stopping the shrinkage, it's wrapping around itself. The only way of stopping it for me is either heat or a heavy setting cream or gel on a wet to dry set.
I'm not very helpful so I'll sit here with you and wait for more answers.
I don't understand why it needs to be tangle free. It's curly, right? You just kind of arrange it and let it go.
The tangles hurt, and pull on my scalp. I never wear my hair free because there's so much of it. I usually wear it in french braid, a milkmaid braid, untwisted curls, or roll it and wear a headband.
For the most part, I never comb my hair dry. It's just not something I can do as a natural. It's sometimes inconvenient, but it's the only way to avoid the pain and hair loss of detangling.
I don't know how heavy argan oil is, but I use olive oil which is pretty heavy. It will weigh down your hair a bit which keeps it from flying around and tangling even more. But it is heavy and you can end up with oil constantly on your hand or in your eye if you touch your hair a lot.

I have greying (so dyed) fine thinning curly hair that is a mix of spiral curls and waves (thanks greys for losing your curl). It's a frizz bomb which I'm trying to work on. I wash my hair 1-2x a week and condition at least once in between. I deep condition once a week. On days I get my hair wet, I just spray with a homemade leave-in conditioner (water & a keratin leave in). After I wash or condition and before I put it under a towel, I put in oil and comb it. I then dry with a microfiber towel. After I take the hair out, I put in coconut oil. It's working decently well but there is still frizz. I'm trying to use as little product as possible, but I think in the summer I might have to use something for the frizz.
Products: Baby shampoo (though I'm trying to find something else) Ion Argan Elixir (love this...it's light and not greasy) It's a 10 Miracle Leave-in plus Keratin (add this to water to make a lighter leave in conditioner/hair waker-upper) Biolage Fiberstrong - deep conditioner L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology - thickening conditioner (not sure about this yet)
Not the best pic but you can get a general sense of my hair:
I have long, sorta straight, sorta wavy hair. As I get older, it has gotten wavier. I don't know what the deal is. And now, its getting lighter and lighter - which is also weird. I have it colored - no highlights because I don't seem to need them...it seems to make highlights on its own.
I am beyond lazy - and my hair doesn't really style well anyway. So this is what I do to give it a little life - I wash at night (I workout a lot so...there is no way I can go without washing my hair after a workout) - and then after squeezing water out and combing it - I put a little product in and put my hair in a low bun. In the morning, voila, beachy waves. Then I just put in a little smoother to tame the flyaways and I'm good to go.
I rarely use a blow dryer or curling iron.
I am not tied to shampoo or conditioner. I've got some Fekkai that I'm using now. After reading this thread, I'm going to try Suave.

What's your hair type? I have hella-thick hair. I would guess that the texture is normal to coarse. Beachy waves in the front, curlier in the back. It USED to be straight. Then I had babies.
What issues do you have? It's hella-thick. Like a regular cut takes an hour and a half thick.
What products do you use?
Shampoo/Conditioner - Aveda Rosemary & Mint. However I only shampoo every 5 days. I co-wash to supplement. Especially with the swimming I'm careful to not shampoo too frequently because it'll dry out. My schedule looks something like:
Wash & Condition Nothing (meaning I just wet it down) Nothing or co-wash Co-wash Wash & Condition
My scalp/hair used to be incredibly greasy and unhealthy. Once I stopped stripping the hell out of all the natural oils with constant shampooing, it now is no longer greasy at all. The only reason I shampoo is because of working out. But, even then, just wetting it down doesn't leave it looking greasy or gross.
For styling I've tried a variety - Kinky Curly Curling Custard (it was ok), Spiral Spritz (this was pretty good but I'd go thru a bottle incredibly fast. also left it crunchy), Curls Goddess Curls (I would alternate this or cut it with Spiral Spritz with pretty good results). Currently using Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls. I'm meh about it. It seems to bring out my curl ok, but I dislike how my hair feels on Day 2 and 3.

I read a suggested haircare routine online for dry/fine hair:
1. Use a moisturizing shampoo no more than twice a week 2. Use a moisturizing leave-in conditioner daily, sparingly on the roots and generously on the ends. 3. Make a chamomile/lemongrass tea spray and use to refresh hair on days you don't shampoo 4. Use a moisturizing hot oil treatment (or apply olive oil to your hair and wrap in a hot towel) once a week 5. Consult a stylist for a cut that works with your hair and flatters your face, and maintain it (follow-up cuts as frequently as necessary).
I ordered chamomile and lemongrass teas, which should arrive tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes.
@kirkette-combing dry is a no no. You gonna hurt your head! Are you looking for a good detangler? If so, I like Taliah Waajid's detangler. Spritz with a little water before you use it. Giovanni leave in conditioner is also good stuff.
What do you use for styling/daily maintenance?
I know, it's my hair related bad habit. Daily maintenance I use a moisturizer or leave in conditioner from Hawaiian Silky. When I twist my hair at night, I use argan oil.
When my hair gets too tangled, I wash it. It took a long time for me to get over the idea that it has to be detangled a tall times. Curls are tangly. If I have a particularly terrible one, I'll smooth it out with my fingers and then twist it back into some kind of curl.
When it gets all over tangly and I don't want to wash it, I throw it in a high ponytail without brushing or combing and use a boar's hair brush to smooth it along my scalp a little. The curls in the ponytail stay as they like.
I have used several hair products all my life! And I could say that this Euphoric argan oil is one of my faves! It helps to tame my frizzy hair. My friend recommended this to me for she is also using this product. I'm not fond of oil to use on my hair but as soon as I started using this, my hair doesn't seem to tangle as always as before. It also helps to moisturize my hair and also my scalp, so I'm not feeling the itch that I am experiencing before. I still don't have the super-silky-smooth-shiny-hair (but time will come lol) but at least hubby loves the moisture and softness of my hair now

Hey could you please provide evidence that you aren't actually some sort of marketer or spambot?
Perhaps by writing a post that does contains neither a product link nor the word hubby? Kthanks.
