The WSJ created brackets to show how things would play out if the World Cup countries were competing in things other than soccer. They run the gamut from team height and twitter followers to more CEP things like speed of population growth, murder rate, military spending etc. They're really interesting
I honestly would not have guessed that the US has the highest GDP per capita. I mean, I know we're rich as a nation, but we also have a lot more people than most other countries on Earth.
It's also interesting that Russia has 1.8 cell phone subscribers per capita.
Finally, I did not realize that Costa Rica has such a high percentage of women in government - that's awesome!

Of the teams there. Luxembourg, Monaco, Lichtenstein, Qatar and other contenders for highest GDP didn't make the WC. Switzerland was probably second.
We also weren't the heaviest team but did have the highest BMI.
