I'm going on a short (two-day) business trip to Hamburg. Unfortunately the baby won't have his UK visa back in time to go with me, so he and my husband will be staying at home. I should have enough breast milk in the freezer to cover the time that I'm gone, but I'll obviously have to pump during the trip. I'd love to bring the pumped milk home to replenish my freezer stash, but I'm having trouble finding out if I can carry breast milk on board the flight home (probably to Luton or Stansted). The only guidance I can find is that you can carry a "reasonable amount" of breast milk if it's necessary on the trip. Obviously it's not "necessary" in my case because I'm not traveling with the baby. It's a short enough trip that I'd like to use only hand-baggage on the flight instead of checking a bag.
I think a little part of me would die inside if they had to dump three days worth of milk. Really, it wouldn't be a huge deal. It's not like he'll starve if I can't bring it home. I'm not sure if my accommodations will have any way to store milk, and I wanted to make sure I could at least bring the milk back before I jump through hoops making requests for a fridge and whatnot.
I haven't done it or even thought of it (didn't travel when I was bf). But maybe an email to either the airline or the airport would straighten it out?
