I've been cheerfully putting the get-up-with-baby stuff on DH's bedside table every other night the last week or so. Last weekend he made a comment about appreciating how much I got up with DS when I was on ML. Tonight he said "babe, I have no idea how you get up with him so often and are fine to go to work the next day. You're like Superwoman".
I smugly smiled at him, then cynically wondered if he was brilliantly conning me, because now I'm all "hmmm, it obviously is much easier for me to deal with the night wakings, maybe I should do more than half...". Hmph.
With #1, my hubby said "But you do it sooo much better" for just about everything. Dressing her, changing diapers, feeding her, playing with her. I totally bought it for weeks until I thought FUCK THAT. Im exhausted! You need to learn!
Now that we have a second, without blinking I made him get up with him for evening feedings and forced him to be hands on. He's an AWESOME daddy for it too because now he has the confidence and EXPERIENCE to know what to do with BOTH kids. He jumps in when he needs to and I love him for that.
Some men DONT have that confidence or pick it up naturally. For my DH I knew it was a confidence thing.
