This makes me nervous as I'm about to cancel my triple play Comcast account. Crossing my fingers it can happen without too much frustration.
My biggest nightmare with Comcast, is that they have you give your phone number when you call customer service. I, like most people, have a cell number. And my cell number has an Oregon area code, even though I have moved back to Colorado. So if I punch in my real phone number when I call comcast, they connect me with a representative in the Oregon market and I have to go through explaining why I'm in Denver and then get transferred. And yes, usually by the time I'm actually talking to someone who can help me I've been on the phone 20-30 minutes. I finally was just advised by one of the reps to just punch in a fake phone number with a Denver area code so at least I would start of in the right department. But then I have to explain to whoever takes my call what my real phone number is.... it's just so ridiculous. I can hardly be the only person in the world with this issue these days but it just seems to blow their minds.
What do you have? We're thinking of switching to CenturyLink.
That article is dead on. They pulled that bullshit over New Years Eve when we'd paid a lot of money to stream a four night concert in HD. OMG we were so pissed! The *only* solution was to send a tech - 14 days later!! Magically, the problem resolved itself before he ever got there. Magic! The tech, by the way, visually examined that the wires were all properly connected (because maybe we're idiots who can't figure out how to plug the modem in). He didn't see any problems, and since it was working fine now, his work was done! Magic!
We switched back to Comcast for TV bc they charge so much for the Internet that it was just MM to have both through them, but it made me sad lol bc we really loves Dish, it just wasn't financially practical. So now we pay 90 for both whereas before we were paying 66 a month just for Internet.

I have Verizon FIOS for phone/internet. (It's cheaper to keep the landline with them than to cancel it, due to the contract bundling.) FIOS TV isn't available in my area, so I can't comment on that. I ended up getting rid of the TV entirely and just watching online.

Confession. I think comcast is better than fios when it comes to TV. I am willing to admit that our internet has been better with fios. But comcast never charges for service visits(which FIOS does)and comcast has a better on demand system (they have CW and PBS, which Fios does not). Comcast also has a better cable menu IMO.

COMCAST FUCKING SUCKS!!!!
FUCK COMCAST RIGHT IN THE EAR HOLE!
They have flat out lied to us about shit. As in, we have emails from Comcast saying, "You are getting X service for Y price." Then our bill posted as Y + $10. When I called, I was told, "Oh, the system only lets us give Z discounts. You can't actually have Y price. Y + $10 is the best we can do." That should be an obvious breach of contract because we have a writing that says we would get X service in exchange for Y dollars. But we can't sue.

This crosses the line. You do not mess with couch tour during the NYE run.

comcast charges for service here
Oh jerks! Yeah, I have never been charged by them before.
lasagnasshole - Fios has lied to us too. Sigh. They just all suck

THANKS, JOHN ROBERTS.
H went through a similar thing with Comcast. They offered him X package for Y dollars. Then, half the channels in X package would go out. He would call, they would make him drive a hour to exchange his cable box, he would get channels back, he did that cycle twice.
Then the bill came one month and was Y++. He called and they said 1. X package doesn't exist, that's why his channels go out. 2. they aren't sure who sold him X package, because there is no such thing. 3. IF, IF there was an X package (which there is NOT) it would cost at least 3Y dollars. 4. For ONLY 3Y dollars, they can hook him up with W package, just below X package...
eff Comcast and I didn't even have to deal with their BS.
I never had any problems with TWC, other than the general over priced-ness
While I think this letter is awesome, here is the thing: Comcast gives no fucks. Comcast has told people to fuck right off. We were having issues with Comcast and we told them we needed to get something resolved or we'd go elsewhere and they said "bye". So we did. We have UVerse. I've never had an issue with them customer service wise. I call every few months to review our package to see where we can reduce our bill. We've gotten a reduction every time. Comcast won't do that and they tell you to fuck right off if you tell them you're going to leave. So...I can only see Comcast rolling their eyes with a Cartman, "Whatever, whatever, I do what I want"
"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley

It sucks extra hard for people with no other option. We have no other high speed internet provider available. We only even have cable because we we got it for the same price as Internet only. I don't consider cable TV a necessity, but this day and age, I do consider high speed internet to be the equivalent of phone service 30 years ago. It's completely absurd that we pay as much as we do for a basic utility and get such shitty service to boot.
I woke up this morning with a notice from comcast that on the 16th of the month, I've used 90% of my internet allotment for the month already....
There is an internet allotment with comcast?? Seriously?
Apparently there are 3 test markets in the US and I'm lucky enough to live in one of them. I will now have to pay $10 for each 50mbps I use this month. They don't have tiered plans so I'm screwed everyone gets 300 mbps and if you go over you pay more.

Yeah Fios On Demand sucks hairy donkey balls. Everything about it is terrible.
I like that Fios does the two year contract and doesn't raise prices, which Comcast reserves the right to just do whenever it feels like it.
Our new town has municipal telecom---super fast internet and digital cable with included DVR for half the price of either Fios or Comcast. I am SUPER THRILLED for commie cable.

We have FiOS but if internet allotment ever becomes the standard, we are fucked because we are online all the damn time. H always has his five home computers doing some online shit 24 hours/day as part of whatever mad science project he is currently working on.
Of course they aren't going to do anything about the letter LOL. That's part of its point - how Comcast has become such a conglomerate (some of that bc of government help) that we are basically just at its mercy.
We have no other option for high speed Internet here so we are subject to their stupid pricing. Bah.
Also this is a good place to put that my new municipal telecom (in the Greater Boston area) calls its fastest internet product Wicked Fast Internet. lols.

I'm in the minority, but I've never problems with Comcast other than price. Our local office has been helpful when problems came up, I luckily haven't needed techs that often and the last time I had an issue, it actually turned out to be my fault for having too many damn cables behind the tv (I had one cable from the wall, but a separate one into the tv and took forever to realize THEY WEREN'T THE SAME CABLE, hence no service!)

I'm sorta stuck on the part that this person didn't notice she was being charged for full service for 3 months and it was only the delivery of equipment that triggered her.
I mean, sure, if you have auto bill pay and all that lined up it's easy to not look every month at every line item, but are you not looking at your bank statements at all? Wouldn't you see the charge and be like "Wait, what?"
That said, we switched from TWC to AT&T two years ago and have no plans to look back.

IMO Centurylink is one billion times worse than comcast. I thought I hated comcast until we switched and now I wish we had it back!!!
