I am the second of 6. I loved being part of a big family. I wish I had the courage to do the same. I have no idea how my mom did it, I'm having a hard time with just one!
I had a big sister who died when I was 4 years old and she was 8. My brother was adopted when I was 5. My parents divorced when I was a teenager, and they each remarried a person with two daughters when I was 17, so I gained four step-sisters within the space of a month. I was never close to my dad's step-daughters, and my dad and their mom have since divorced. I am fairly close to my mom's step-daughters--we spend holidays with them, vacation with them, my kids consider their kids cousins, etc.
So basically, from birth to 4 yo, it was just me and my sister, from 5.5 yo to 17 yo it was just me and my brother, for a while I had a brother and four step-sisters, and now I would say there are four of us (plus the sibs IL). But I voted two since it was me and my brother for most of my formative years.
I'm #3 of 5 kids. Even though my 2 older brothers were generally jerks to me my first 15yrs, I loved having a big family. My mom was super mom though. I have 4 and with DD4 being 4yrs younger (the other 3 are 2.5yrs apart) I feel a little guilty she doesn't have a buddy.

I have two much older half brothers from my dad's first marriage that stayed with us during the summer. And the oldest one lived with us when he was a senior in high school and I was in kindergarten. And my mom abd dad divorced when i was 6. So we've never really been close, lol.
For the majority of my childhood it was just me and my little sister.
Then at age 10 my mom remarried and I got an older step brother and step sister (2 and 5 years older than me). They stayed with us about 25% of the time. Fairly close and still regularly see them.
So I was number 5 of 6 kids, but I feel like the oldest since most of the time it was just me and my sister. And my step siblings are in no way related to my half siblings.

1 brother and 2 half brothers. My half brothers didn't live with us till I was 9 and they were older. It was only a few years till they were out of the house.
Only child checking in. I did gain 2 stepsisters & a stepbrother in my early 20's. But I was out of the house at that point, so we've never been really close. They are nice enough, but I definitely don't consider them actual siblings.
