Teach me about Comics

Specifically the new Doctor Who ones from Titan. Looks like we don't get them until July 23rd? Looks like they're on sale in the UK now..and damnit, with my DT obsession, I want to collect at least 2 of the covers (the Zhang regulars for such gorgeous illustration and the photo variant). So...enlighten me and introduce me to the world of comics.

I think DH just brought some home from the comic book store, but I'll ask him tonight (he made a pilgrimage to the one Kevin Smith owns in Red Bank).  I just got a glance at the cover, but it looked like a Doctor Who / Star Trek: TNG crossover?  I love Alice Zhang's work -- yay for fan artists going pro! -- but you can always buy her prints if you want I think.

But seriously, I plan on getting at least two covers of each comic. Sometimes the cover is worth it alone. 

DC is doing a bombshell run on some of their comics. Here is one of them-
