A group of us have gotten together and decided that we're going to be running the 2013 in Michigan. Anyone done the Tough Mudder before? Tips and recommendations?

I did the PA Tough Mudder last year, and the best training I can recommend is P90x or Insanity, and lots of trail running. I made the mistake of only training on the street, and I was ill-prepared for the mud, rocks, twigs, etc. I had also only trained with Jillian Michaels 30DS, and it got me through, but really wished I had done P90x or Insanity like my teammates had.
Mudder also had a great training regimen on their website which is helpful too.

I've been working the one on their site, and I also have P90x and been incorporating that. Thanks for the tips, the only running I'd been doing was treadmill/street so I am definitely going to start doing some trail runs as well

Ditto PP, I did cross fit and running, but there are no "trails" near me, so I did street and dreadmill running.... it was much more challenging in the rocks/dirt/mud/etc. The obstacles part I was good with, it was the heat and endurance on unstable ground that got me!

We have a gorgeous trail not too far from my Mother's house where they do a lot of mountain biking and stuff like that, so I think I will have to make use of that when I'm up visiting her. Not sure what's down here but there's gotta be something....
My H just ran completed one yesterday. I wish that I had done it with him! We do RIPPED classes. Basically cross training/calisthenic based classes. We bike a lot as well. Once done he commented that he completely underestimated the running. It was ALL hills. If you can't train on trails, I would highly recommend incorporating hills into your running routine at least once a week.
