what about the second one? All this sleep talk prompted this question. DD is a great sleeper, probably in spite of rather than because of anything we do. Breastfed kid that slept through the night at 8 or 9 weeks and at 16 months now goes down from 8 a - 7 p with no issues. I know we are incredibly lucky and now that I am spoiled with a good sleeper I am sure next kid will be an awful sleeper. What was your experience with subsequent kids?
Overall she was a good sleeper. The next one started out as a good sleeper, but then we had a few months of hell where she was up all the time and it took forever to get her back down.

My first STTN when he was 3-4 months old, next baby woke up 1-2 times a night to nurse until he was a year. 3rd babies woke up 3-4 times a night until he was a year. Current baby has been STTN since he was maybe 6 or 7 months.
My first was actually our worst sleeper. He had an issue with silent reflux that went undiagnosed for three months and didn't sleep for longer than two hour stretches until he was four months old. DS2 was a great sleeper by comparison
Kids are all different and you won't know what you'll end up with until they're already here. Just luck of the draw.
haha, this is also one of my fears. DD has always been a great sleeper & we know we are very lucky. But I'm thinking the next will be the total opposite which scares me!!

#1 was an amazing sleeper...she was STTN by 8 weeks old and napped like clockwork from 9-12 and 3-5 until 11 months or so when she dropped to one nap a day (and even that was pretty consistent).
#2, not so much. She needed to be held in order to sleep for a long time and did not STTN until 5 months. Even then, we're talking a "short" night of 5-6 hours most of the time. Naps were inconsistent and she wouldn't take them in the carseat or stroller unless she was completely exhausted (meaning she cried a lot first!). All in all nothing terrible and it could have been worse, but I was definitely spoiled by how easy her sister had been in comparison!

DS1 was a great sleeper - we wondered if it was all luck- or that we followed Babywise.... when the twins were also great sleepers- we realized it was Babywise. All 3 were STTN at 8 weeks. The twins did it on the same day.
