I do when I'm by myself or if my husband is home. If it's the latter though, I tend to yell "I'm peeing!!" if I hear him walking towards the bathroom; then he mumbles at me and scurries away. I suppose it might be easier to just shut the door.

Neither of our bathroom doors latch, so the pets inevitably open them up even if I try to close it. I have given up and accepted that I will always have an audience.
just peeing? both dh and i will leave the door open. we've seen worse things. now, if another bathroom activity is going on... that requires some sort of smell blockage, aka the door.

I don't close the door. My cat goes crazy when he is on the other side of a closed door from a human. He usually follows me into the bathroom. I'm pretty sure he thinks it is his job to protect me from the toilet monster.
I'm not worried about a stranger entering my apartment. My landlord can only enter without notice if there is an emergency.
I leave the door open all the time. The only bathroom I use in the house is in our bedroom. Even if you are in our bedroom you can see the toilet at all.

I agree with all the cat people...my cats like to watch me. Lynx like to watch the toilet flush lol. My old cat Hermes figured out how to open the door even when it was shut all the way (I think that house had a broken door lol)
It bothers G when I pee with the door open, but I just don't care There are two bathrooms, and I close it when guests are over.
