I had frequent checks when I was pg w/ E due to circumstances w/ my previous pregnancy, and at one check she suddenly looked like she was growth restricted. Went from normal to 5th percentile. HOWEVER. They sent me to the high risk OB and their team was insistent upon using the same tech, and machine for each subsequent ultrasound because there can be so much variation between techs and even machines. There shouldn't be, but there is. Each tech can still come up with an accurate assessment, but technique and interpretation can vary enough between people to cause discrepancies. Once everything was consistent, she was still small, but they were pretty close to her birth weight. Maybe within a few ounces.
I wouldn't worry too much just yet. Sounds like they're going to watch you closely, and if you and your H are smaller, a smaller baby isn't out of the question, or necessarily cause for concern.
This really depends on the skill of the person doing the ultrasound. We had one that was always on the money, and one that tended to be way off.
I had them every other week starting at 30 weeks. It ended up being pretty accurate.
It definitely depends on who is doing them. I remember one time I got some pretty scary percentiles during a scan. I freaked out but the dr checked who the tech was and told me not to worry, that the numbers are only as good as the person doing them. She was basically saying I had a bad tech haha. The next week DS was on target.

Well I had one at 33 weeks that said he'd be 4 lbs 6 oz, and then I ended up giving birth at 33w2d, and he was 5 lbs 2 oz, so it was not super accurate but not way off the mark.
Overestimated by a pound and a half. Everyone on the delivery room (OB, nurse, anesthesiologist, DH) had bets on the weight. They all said over 10lbs. I said 8lbs8oz. He was born at 39w3d at 8lbs9oz. The OB laughed and said "moms always know."

My OB was just telling me that there was a study about this very thing. They had drs, u/s techs, and moms all predict the weight of the baby and the numbers were all over the place, but the moms were always the closest.

I had a growth check at 36 weeks and my OB said he was measuring a week small. I had him at 39 weeks and he was 6lbs 5oz. Average weight for baby born at 38 weeks is around 6.5lbs, so her estimate was pretty accurate.

They were all accurate. If anything they underestimated DS1, he came at 38w2d at 10 lb 7 oz. I can't imagine if he had gone 40 weeks. I should really say that for all of my boys though - DS2 was 9 lb 11 oz at 37 wks and DS3 was the biggest shock of all at 12 lb 3 oz at 37w4d!

That's crazy and awesome!
When my water broke, T measured at 4lb 9 or 10oz. Before they induced three weeks later I said she's gonna be 6 lbs. she was 6lb2oz.
This is helpful info, thank you. On Friday at 36 wks they said baby is pretty small and 2 wks behind at 4.14lbs and I'm going for weekly u/s checks now. But I'm a petite person so it's possible baby will just be little.
My BFF is short (5'2"?), and her H is 6'3"-4" and she delivered a 5lb baby at full term - perfectly healthy, no issues, just a small little guy
