I just joined My Fitness Pal and it's pretty user friendly so I might actually stick with it. Every day I'm staying right in calories but going way over in carbs and protein and fat. How can I cut back on these things and still get the calories? I'm confused. I usually go whine about this stuff on H&F and they're always helpful but I keep tripping over that line in the sand right now.
Go to the top where it says daily and weekly and then go back down and scroll through each day. I just don't see how it can be right. What food isn't fat, protein or carb but contains significant calories? If I find out I will get it
This is my day yesterday. 1500 calories, decent since I barely moved the entire day. But over in saturated fat, way over in carbs, and way way over in protein. So I assume I should eat a pallet of lettuce.
I know it doesn't make sense, fruits and veggies are carbs. That particular day I had an apple, a peach and 2 cups of raw cherries. Only a teeny bit of veggie though. I guess I'll start there. Add veggies and not just fruit.
I use this app on my phone. What really helped me stay within my goals is cutting down on processed foods. You can start cutting down carbs by lowering your sugar intake. Canned foods are high in sodium. Choose grilled over fried foods and add more green leafy veggies.
The one thing I have going for me is I don't eat fried foods. And not too much processed foods. But I definately need to add more leafy greens and veggies. I've got the fruit covered. Goal for today (I'm writing it so I have to do it) is leafy greens and veggies. ETA I'm feeling pretty good about my weight after 1 week of using the app though. I've stuck to 1500 calories and I'm pretty sure it's a good amount to lose a pound or so a week and continue to nurse.
After reading this post and seeing how I can keep track on my phone I downloaded the App.
Where do you go to see how many proteins, fats, etc you are eating?
When you are logging you are on "my Diary" on the bottom of the app. Instead switch to the "home" tab on the bottom. Then on the top of the home page there are 3 tabs. "Summary", "daily", and "weekly". Chose daily and it will give you the breakdown. Find it?

Thanks! I got it! Hopefully this can keep me in check. I blew it yesterday as we went to Moes for dinner and I had nachos which were covered in queso! The app told me if i continued going at the rate i was going i would gain 5 pounds by September. Uggg!

Tofu/chicken bowl or salad are your friends at Moe's (easy on the rice in the bowl, if you are watching carbs.
LOL it's so hard! I had a tiring day yesterday and when H was on his way home from work I asked him to pick me up a beer. I needed a 12 ounce attitude adjustment. He brought delicious IPAs and I had not one but 2. 297 calories each!!! I logged one for last night and one for today, since technically it was very close to midnight.

This is such a nice APP. I love the fact you can scan stuff and it finds it. Thanks so much for this idea.
I am doing ok, I go over my goal of 1,200 calories every day but I am eating better foods, like more veggies and fruits.
Last night after dinner I was thinking I would have a pack of fruit snacks but I decided to hit end day and not be able to add anymore things and so that helped me not eat the fruit snacks.
How can you get rid of a food you accidently added? Is the only way to zero it out?
Yes I love this app! I've tried WW and it's too much math. This is so simple and I lov the scanner too! Even if you don't scan, I typed "Publix cereal" and every flavor was there. Love!
There is a way to just delete if from your diary if you go to Edit on top then the little red minus of the side will give you a delete button. But don't minus things you've eaten to make room for more though I speak that strictly from experience, I've totally done that, but then I remind myself that it defeats the purpose and add it back in. It is good to be honest because it's such a great tool to figure out your patterns. You can easily scroll back to your past and look and learn from it and like you said, continue to make better choices.
