the movie tonight and she just texted me.
I told her that this was an isolated incident by a very disturbed individual. While the mom in me is skittish about you going, the logical portion of my brain says that you should go and have a good time.
I did ask her to call the theater just to make sure that 1. they are still showing it 2. ask about any security that they may have or be putting into place.
I think 1 is good. 2... they probably aren't doing anything, and is going a bit overboard.
Although, I did tell my H that we won't be going to the theater to watch the movie (we had been tossing around the idea of getting a sitter). He responded, "Yeah, we'll go to the drive-in and watch with our windows up." Which, he was (mostly) kidding. So I get where you're coming from.

i just heard on the radio that NYC is posting NYPDO at theatres showing TDKR. i personally think that's going overboard but given the NY response, i think yours was very logical.

DH said this morning, "at least when we go to the drive in we know those people have guns". at bad of a joke as it was, he's right.
A friend posted on FB she is trying to make her teen daughter change her plans to go to a sporting event at a speedway on Saturday. Overreaction, and frankly just what the shooter wants, IMO.
Call me naive, but I'm going to the movie tonight and never had a moment of thought about cancelling my plans.
What happened is terrible, but I don't think that this is something that will happen again in the exact same way.
I'm seeing it too, I spent $40 on my tickets to the "vip" theatre, I'm not going to waste that! I agree that there's only the very smallest of chances it would be repeated, but I think I'll still feel weird seeing the scene it happened during, knowing that this was the last thing these people saw
Copz - are you local? That might change my mind (not because of the actual danger factor, just because I understand if it doesn't feel right to go).
No, in Ohio..but I have a feeling that there are going to be a lot of skittish people and I would imagine theaters to act accordingly. They generally go to a very large movie "tavern" type complex.

LAPD was also called out to theaters last night to check on the midnight showings and make sure everything was safe. They said they will continue to monitor big showings.
