I have awesome neighbors on one side. Love them so much. My neighbor on the other side is pretty new but has been very nice so far. I had problems with the previous owner mainly because I thought boundaries were a good idea and he didn't. He got mad I locked him out of my yard for example. He also watered the side of my house for years and I have damage because of it. I was so happy when the house got sold.
New neighbor is someone I used to work with at my old company. They have 2 kids, probably 7 and 9 year old boys. For the past few weeks I've been finding that someone is squishing and then tossing aluminum cans into my backyard. I rarely go in my yard so I have no idea when it is happening. I only notice when I go take my trash to the alley.
I can and do pick up the cans but it feels crappy to have someone repeatedly do this. I don't know who it is who is doing this. My guess is the new neighbor's kids. I've never seen the old neighbors drink soda. For the most part, I see the cans closest to the new neighbor's side of my yard.
What do you say in a situation like this or do I just keep picking up cans?
Maybe start up a conversation and mention the cans and ask if they've had it happen in their yard too? If they then suspect their kids maybe they'll talk to them. It's tough without actually seeing them do it, so I'd probably sidestep it.

Good idea, but I'd probably need another scenario. The only way they could get cans in their backyard is if it were me or the wheelchair bound neighbor on the other side. Thank you for responding! A bunch of lurkers was making me nervous.
