Anyone want to talk Emmy noms? I was amazed, I don't think a single one of these shows is produced by a major network (or whatever you would call ABC, NBC, CBS these days). I'm sure there are more in the comedy categories, but still.
Am I the only that doesn't think that Orange is the new Black is a comedy? I love that it is up for several awards, but I wouldn't consider it a comedy.
I'm still really pissed that Tatiana Maslany didn't get a nom. I mean really.
I totally agree with you!
I also hate how some shows continue to get nominations when they didn't have the greatest year. I'm looking at you, Mad Men. Cutting the final season in two really hurt the momentum.
I think there needs to be different criteria for which categories shows are placed into. How is True Detective in the Best Drama category while Fargo is a miniseries? I understand that Best Drama is probably more prestigious and TD was excellent and has a good chance to win, but how can you compare 8 episodes of a self contained story to an ongoing drama? And, like PP noted, how is OITNB a comedy?
It was so disappointing. I wish Tatiana had been nominated. And Brooklyn 99. And the Americans.
Curious to se how best actor in a drama turns out. I am worried the true detective votes will be split and neither of them will win. That show was amazing.

If American Horror Story is considered a miniseries because each season is independent with a completely new story, then I think True Detective should have been considered a miniseries since next season's cast and story will be totally different. Matthew and Woody are going to get screwed when they both gave great performances because we all know that the Dramatic Actor Emmy is going to Bryan Cranston.
I'd like to see Cranston, Breaking Bad, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Veep win.
The Emmys are picking the same old stale shows. I used to like Mad Men and Downton Abbey, but now they bore me. I also heard that Tatiana M. was good and should've been nominated.
Sometimes the Emmy voters really just "name-check." I wouldn't mind if House of Cards and its actors do well.
Overall, I will watch this awards show but can't get excited about it. The Cranston-McConaughey/Breaking Bad-True Detective showdowns might be interesting. I could see a split there.
I was bored by Brooklyn 9-9, too, so I'm somewhat glad it was snubbed. I thought it was overrewarded by the GGs.
I feel very strongly about my tv shows, lol. I was happy with lots of the nominations, especially for Good Wife actors/actresses, OITNB, and House of Cards.
Orphan Black and Mindy Project deserved nominations for sure.
I hope Bryan Cranston wins for Best Actor. I think he has the best episode. Emmy voters watch the episode that people submit. Series submit six episodes, I think. Cranston's episode Ozymandias is better than the ones submitted by Harrelson and McConaughey. (McConaughey submitted the finale; Harrelson submitted some episode I forget.) If MM wins, it's probably because of his recent really good choices and the Oscar win.
Gold Derby has a whole thread devoted to what episode each actor submitted.
The consensus of tv experts' predictions have Orange is the New Black, Louis-Dreyfus, Parsons, Breaking Bad, and McConaughey winning. It also has Alison Janney winning twice. (predictions are of July 19)
