It depends on how lazy I am being. Cakes and baked goods? I pre-heat. Chicken or casserole type dinners? I just shove it in there while it is pre-heating and then add a few minutes onto the cooking time to account for heating up time.

Yah, I agree with this. I only preheat when baking.

H and I were having a discussion. He thought you should always preheat the oven, I said you don't need to. But I forgot that I always do when baking.

Usually for stuff I really need a preheat I'm doing prep work while the oven is heating anyway.

Pop roll cinnamon rolls don't fall in that category though.
