Good Morning!
The weekend was pretty good. On Saturday, DH made breakfast (poached eggs on homemade toast) and then we went to the movies (saw Jersey Boys) after some shopping. I got a new iPod, DH got some re-issued Morrissey albums. Then we went to dinner. I love days when I don't have to cook or clean up.
Sunday was housecleaning day, though it was also raining for most of the day, which meant I got to dry my towels in the dryer (I love it when it works out that way!), but it also meant the flood took forever to dry. We caught up with Jeopardy! while we waited.
Today DH had an all-day seminar in Melbourne. The bus got in about 8:00 and he planned to have breakfast at our favorite cafe, only to find it's closed! We were both unreasonably upset about that. It's now a juice bar.
QOTD: I do not understand soccer at all. I was marginally for Uruguay (at least until the biting incident) but only because actor Jonathan del Arco had such interesting tweets during the games. And I did enjoy my Argentina Krispy Kreme doughnut as a late-night snack on Saturday night. But no, I haven't seen a game or really followed it at all.
Not to many plans for today. Going to take it easy. It's been sort of crappy last few days.
QOTD: I followed the US and Switzerland. But dropped interest after that. Watched the 2nd half of the game yesterday. I wanted Argentina to win. So I could know that my ex would be upset. Guess revenge can't be served through soccer. Haha
Hello! We had a wedding to go to this weekend and then brunch with the ILs yesterday and today is a national holiday. We are currently lounging in pajamas waiting for the parade to start on the telly.
QOTD: We watched the whole thing. I was for the USA and for France, then I liked Argentina and Germany. Basically any team that played welll and seemed relatively nice. I was for Brazil mainly because the world cup was there and thought it would be cool for them to win while they were hosting, but that didn't work out so well!
Hello. I'm staying home from work today because DS spiked a fever last night and still isn't feeling well. He was fine last night. We went to a friend's house to watch the game. I brought him home early but DH stayed to watch the rest of the game. I'm a soccer fan in that i can tolerate watching a game (I'm not into sports AT ALL). At least I can follow what's going on and the games are quick. But it's fun to watch with crowds who are into the game.

Weekend was good! Pretty lazy :-P I think I may have only left the house once on Saturday. I didn't leave at all on Friday! Not a bad way to spend a weekend :-)
Today, I'm super busy at work with salary increases, so trying to finish those up and then tonight, heading out to the beach to hopefully see some baby turtles hatching. It's sort of unpredictable, so no idea if we'll see any or not!
QOTD: Nope, no interest at all here. I am not all that interested (especially now that I know how evil FIFA is!), and prefer American football and baseball. Although, if we end up staying here in 2022, I may need to start paying attention :-P
I spent the weekend with my boyfriend to watch the last World Cup matches, so I guess I'm answering more than one question at the same time!
Today's plan is to slack off at work, because 2/3 of the office is on vacation, and the remaining people on my team got together to watch the game and are all bleary-eyed and running on caffeine.
QOTD: I don't like professional football, but I love watching the national tournaments. I'm like that with most sports, because I feel like there's more passion when they're playing for something other than money and sponsorship.
I've always* loved the way Germany plays, so they were my first choice, but I also cheer for Italy and Ghana, so I was very excited to go to the Germany-Ghana game during the group round. I And since my boyfriend is Brazilian, it was also pretty much required that I cheer for Brazil. But they're such an enthusiastic host country, it was hard not to cheer for them.
* "Always" in this context means "since 2006" which was the first tournament I watched.
I had a pretty good weekend, there was surf here, I got a few good workouts in, all in all a good time.
My big plans for the day were work and the mall. I got a pair of shoes today, which has been surprisingly difficult here.
QOTD: I haven't really been watching the World Cup. I follow enough to not sound like a moron on conference calls, but there is really just one kind of football in my mind.
Yesterday was my 1-year "repatriation-versary." It's strange to say, but I feel like the last year was a lot harder adjusting back (and adjusting to DD being in "real school," plus all of my work commitments, plus getting pregnant) than our first year in Paris was in terms of adjustment. But perhaps I just have amnesia! In many ways, I feel like moving is kind of like giving birth. You objectively know that it's hard, but don't remember how painful it is until you're in the thick of it again.
Anyway, YES, go World Cup! DH and I watched the game yesterday at an awesome bar in Harlem. Even though no one scored for the first 113 minutes, it was pretty exciting. The energy in the room around us was awesome.

The weekend was mostly good aside from getting a migraine.
QOTD: I watched the World Cup at an impromptu party. I was cheering for Germany from the outset. I did feel badly for Messi in the end but it was a good game to watch. I'm not a rabid fan but I do enjoy watching it from time to time.
