I don't much stock into title when I review resumes. I care more about education, skill set/experience and drive/attitude/whatever you want to call this.

I think if you do a good job of keeping your resume based on achievements instead of responsibilities, you'll be fine. "Increased X by Y percent" vs "responsible for X process".
Can you ask for a higher title as part of negotiations? My husband is a data analyst and in his industry (CPG market research, mostly) the titles are so inflated it's ridiculous. Mostly because people like to know they are working with a "director of marketing analysis" or something. Even if 18 people have that title.

I work in analytics in pharma and we get lots of folks who apply for positions in my group that come from consulting as Director and Sr Director titles that want a Sr. Analyst position because they know the benefits and pay is very good in our industry. When I evaluate candidates I look for folks with a strong educational background (MS or PhD in stats or Math), strong industry experience, and ability to do analysis and communicate well.
