Dog friendly beaches?

Any suggestions? My older dog is obsessed with my parents pool, and I'd love to see what she does with waves.

Ft Desoto and Honeymoon Island have dog beaches! Ft Desoto you can take them off their leash and let them run around! Honeymoon -- if I remember correctly -- asked that they stay on leashes. Both are fun!

I don't have a dog, so I guess it's weird, but I really like the dog beach at Honeymoon Island. It's not very crowded, and I like to watch the dogs having fun at the beach.

I used to take my dogs to the beach at the end of Westshore. I'm not sure what it's called. Is it Ballast Point? It's usually really quiet there. Lots of days there were windsurfers who were fun to watch. That's actually a really nice park. I haven't been in a few years though.

I'm pretty sure there is a dog park on Davis Island. My friend posts about going there on facebook with her doggie.

Another vote here for Honeymoon Island, that's where I take my pups.

Late reply on this, but we prefer Ft. Desoto as they have a dog beach and a dog park. So after we do the beach, we let her run around the dog park area to rinse her with water and get some of the salt off her and have her run around to dry off a bit before the drive back home. Bad part is that it's farther from our house than Honeymoon Island and you have to pay the park fee. But at Ft Desoto it's off leash which is nice.

Honeymoon Island you are required to keep them on leash and you have to walk through a bunch of brush area to get to the beach. I'm so afraid of coming across snakes there! Once our girl stepped on a burr walking through the brush area. Didn't take me long to figure out why she was limping!

We don't do the dog beach much anymore as she hasn't yet learned to stop drinking so much salt water. So the aftermath of a trip to the beach isn't worth it to me anymore. I wish we had a pool and she could swim there. Oh well!
