How long do I keep mascara?

I've had the UD Cannonball for a while. I know the standard is 3-6 months, but it's been longer than that. I don't use it often though and there's plenty left. And it was $$$.

Should I still use it or definitely pitch it?

As long as it's not clumpy, I'd keep using it. I'm sure there's some sort of germs guideline, but I've never really paid attention to that. My issue is more that mascara gets dry & clumpy after a few months.

As long as it's not dry, clumpy, or smells funny.. I would keep using it.

I replace every 4-5 months. although I did use my Guerlain longer than that, because, well, it was $40. I tend to toss cheapie mascaras sooner (but they seem to dry up sooner). I usually alternate expensive with cheapie.

I usually go about 6 months. Ditto the others, if it gets dry or clumpy, out it goes.

No funkiness, so I'll keep using it. I just threw out some Maybelline ones that were over a year old.

I also picked up the CG mascara in the orange tube. I heard good things about it, so I hope it works.

This is the mascara I always go back to. In very black, specifically. It just works best for my lashes, giving lots of volume.

I got it in Very Black, and waterproof. Excited for new stuff!

I also get the sephora eyeliner you recommended. I'll let you know how it works out.

I use mine until they are dry or clumpy. One of my tricks w/ the orange CG mascara is to use an older one as a base for volume, then go over the top with a newer tube to get more length. Or, I use DiorShow on top of CG for even more volume.

This is why I dont buy expensive mascara. I can never use it before i should really throw it out.

I pitch mine every 3 months. I am terrified of eye infections too but I havent ever had one.
