I am trying to incorporate more unique veggies into our diet and yellow and zucchini squash is on sale this week. I would like to make a stir fry or sautee some veggies for dinner, but not sure how cook the squash since I have never used them before. Can you please offer some ideas?

I like to cook them together since they look prettier. I just slice them and throw them in with whatever other veggies and seasoning I'm using. They don't take very long to cook. They are pretty mild tasting. I actually like to saute them in a little oil with salt, pepper, and creole seasoning. DH likes them with tomatoes, Italian type seasonings, and Parmesan. They also taste good in a frittata which is a fast and easy to incorporate veggies into breakfast.
I also like to grill them. I cut the ends off and cut them in half lengthwise, rub on a little bit of olive oil and some steak seasoning then straight on the grill about 5 mins per side.
We have sauteed squash as a side dish frequently in the summer. I heat some olive oil in a skillet, then saute some sweet onion until it's a shade or two darker than just transparent. Then I toss in the sliced squash and continue cooking until the squash are done. I usually season with just salt and pepper, but if I happen to have some fresh herbs I'll add those. When it's done, I remove the pan from the heat and stir in some halved cherry or grape tomatoes.
My mom also makes this delicious stuff she just calls Squashmeat. Brown a pound of ground beef, then add in sliced squash and onion and cook until the veggies are soft. Add a can of tomato sauce and whatever seasonings you like (salt, pepper, whatever herbs/spices sound yummy to you) and cook until it tastes right. You can't mess it up (as evidenced by the lack of a real recipe and it's yummy over rice. The leftovers improve in the fridge, too.

I was just at a friends house yesterday and she grilled them. She sliced them into medallions, covered in olive oil, salt, pepper, minced garlic. They were great. I chopped them up and threw them in a veggie chili for myself.

We like to toss with olive oil and fajita seasoning, slice lengthwise into 1/8" thick slices, and grill them. Stuffed zucchini or yellow squash is also really good--scoop out the insides, leaving 1/4" shell, cook the insides with your favorite seasoned meat and/or grain, stuff the zucchini shells, top with some cheese, and bake at 425* until the cheese is brown and the squash is tender. We like to stuff them with a sausage/Italian seasoning/ricotta mixture and top with mozzarella, but they would also be really good stuffed with taco meat and topped with cheddar or pepper jack.

Thanks for all the very delicious sounding ideas. I started off easy and sauteed the squash with some oil, garlic and salt and pepper. I loved it!!! I can't wait to try all the other suggestions you all have been generous to share with me!
Jambalaya made with zucchini and summer squash instead of meat. It's amazing. The recipe as written is pretty spicy, so take it easy at first and taste test often.
I also like to pan sear squash with artichoke hearts and salt for taste. When it's done toss it with butter, parmesan, hot drained pasta, and black pepper.
