My "favorite" is the one where the mom decides she won't ever tell the kids to hurry up because it is ruining the magic of childhood. That is not REAL LIFE! Sometimes you have to get your butt in gear.

So much yes. We would still be at home trying to get C to put her shoes on if I just let her take her sweet damn time doing everything.

I just re-read what I wrote and I'm impressed you understood what I was saying. Lol!

Yes! I remember reading to never tell them to "hurry up" because it could "give them anxiety." W.T.F. My kid moves at a snail's pace, there's no way I couldn't tell him to hurry up.

I don't like it, but sometimes I yell. Not all the time, but it happens. My mom was a yeller, much more than I am, and I never doubted that she loved me. I try to do right by J and I tend to gravitate to other parents that are doing the same - even if the techniques we use vary.
I yelled at DS the other day because I was trying to parallel park in a very tight space and he was doing the Stewy Griffin " Mom, Mom, Mommy" OVER AND OVER, after I told him to please stop talking while Mommy parked the car. I almost hit a pole because he screamed so loud and shrill " MOOOOMMMMYY"
I yelled " YOU HAVE TO STOP TALKING WHEN I ASK YOU TO STOP TALKING OR I MIGHT HIT A POLE"
Then the rest of the day. " If I talk now will you hit a pole, If I keep talking will the pole hit us, If I don't stop talking I should hit a pole, Should I talk to a pole about hitting later? "
But my kid needs to be put in their place sometimes. Because life isn't going to be handed to you forever. You don't always get what you want. I want them to learn to deal at an early age.
